Game Notes: After winning their first game in the Stateline Pony League Tournament, the first-seed Pecatonica Vikings returned to New Glarus for the semi-final game against Monticello.

In the 1st, Monticello would take an early 2-run lead off a couple of singles, a few stolen bases, and a sacrifice grounder. Pecatonica batters got off to a slow start with the first two batters getting out on caught flies. The next batter would reach base on a walk, but would be picked off at second.

In the bottom of the 2nd, the Vikings would tie up the game after N. Gilbertson, who'd reached base on a walk, scored on a double hit by J. Hendrickson. He'd later score by stealing home on a passed ball.

The lead would change again in the top of the 3rd as Monticello scored one run off a steal on a passed ball, but in the bottom of the 3rd, Pec regained the lead. J. Tollakson started the rally after he was hit by a pitch. He stole second and then raced home on a double hit by N. Loyd. Several stolen bases later, plus two singles hit by J. Scoville and D. Conwell, the score was 6-3 Pecatonica.

Monticello battled back by scoring two runs to close the gap to one in the top of the 4th, which the Vikings responded to in the bottom of the inning with J. Hendrickson crossing home on a sacrifice grounder hit by S. Swenson.

In the 5th, Monticello's rally ended with bases loaded when Pec's starting pitcher D. Conwell struck out two batters and third baseman J. Scoville fielded a grounder to first baseman N. Loyd for the 3rd out. Monticello responded defensively in the bottom of the inning by striking out all three of Pec's batters.

In the 6th inning, Monticello faced Pec's relief pitcher, S. Swenson and had no better luck...going 3-up and 3-out. In the bottom of the inning, Vikings base runner G. Daley scored on a single hit by S. Swenson, which increased Pec's lead to three.

The final inning, Monticello came up to bat with hopes of overcoming that 3-run lead. One batter would reach base on an error, but Pec's relief pitcher struck out one batter, shortstop J. Hendrickson caught an in-field fly, and first baseman, N. Loyd fielded an easy grounder to first for three outs and the victory.
