Game Notes: On Sunday we played a scrimmage against the Wills Park Roughriders. This game did not count towards our record/league standings. The coaches decided we should use this opportunity to let several of the boys play positions they hadn't been able to play thus far in our regular season. In addition, we reversed the batting order hoping to get an extra at bat in for several of the boys. On the whole it was "mission accomplished" as far as the coaches were concerend - while we didn't win the scrimmage we were able to mix things up a bit and I felt the boys did well rising to their respective opportunities. Will pitched the first inning and threw a lot of strikes. The Wills Park team put the ball in play several times and got a few "seeing eye" hits, some walks and they took full advantage, scoring 6 runs. Will made a nice double play to end the inning. Jack Adler pitched the second inning and did well, giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and a walk. Max pitched a very effective third inning, giving up 1 run on 2 walks which included a nice hustle play by James at 1B. Our bats never caught fire as we only had 2 hits for the game, highlighted by Jack A driving in 2 runs with a shot to the outfield. My sense was that the boys were a little out of sorts going to a new park to play and they played tentative baseball. It was great, though, to see Will, Jack A and Max pitch and all 3 will get another chance to throw the rock!
