Game Notes: Jordan Cheveldave hit a walk-off two run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to end an error-filled game and give the Kelowna Cubs a 7-5 win in the first game of their home opening doubleheader against the North Shore Twins Saturday at Elks Stadium. The Twins' infield began the game with three consecutive errors, allowing the Cubs to score first in the opening frame. Then Twins' starter Scott Webster, a 6' 6" fifteen year old, took control of the game, allowing no hits and striking out eleven Cubs' batters through five innings. Cubs' starter Jason Gradidge was equally effective, limiting the Twins to two runs in his six innings. In the bottom of six, Tyler Klein slashed the first Cub hit, followed by Brayden Malakoff's double, combined with some walks and errors to score three Kelowna runs, giving them a 4-2 lead going into the seventh inning. Kelowna then made three infield errors to give North Shore two runs to tie the game after regulation.

In the top of the first extra inning, David Dyck singled in the go-ahead run for North Shore. Up against the wall, Kelowna rallied, as Brett Sanguin singled, advanced on a ground ball, and scored to tie the game on Jamie Newmarch's single. Cheveldave then blasted a towering shot over the left field fence to win the game for the Cubs. Jordan Valgardson got the win, with a strong relief performance in the last inning.
