Game
Notes:
The Pembroke High JV team were victorious over Rockland, 4-2. An outstanding relief effort by Mike Sjolin as well as two spectacular defensive plays in the bottom of the 7th inning led the Titans to victory.
Sjolin went 5 strong innings in relief of Sean Gilliand, picking up the victory. He gave up just one run on 5 hits and recorded 6 K's. Gilliand, who labored on the mound during the first two innings, came back to impact the game with his glove, making a diving catch with two outs, two men on, in the bottom of the 7th inning.
Before the great play by Gilliand who also ripped a double in the 5th inning, Brian Gentile caught a sinking line drive with 0 outs, 2 men on in the bottom of the 7th, and flipped it to first for a double play. Gentile, who's been swinging a hot bat as of late, smashed a ground rule double leading off the fifth inning. The shot just missed a home run by 5 feet. He would score that inning on a Justin Pugliesi RBI single.
Ryan Martin had an RBI in the first inning by singling home Sjolin to put the first run of the game on the board.
Pembroke will play next at Hingham on Thursday. Ryan Martin will get the start for the 4-2-1 Titans.
