| The Hiram High Lady Hornets dominated at this weekends Softball in the Sand tournament. The Lady Hornets started the weekend Friday night beating McIntosh County and Lee County. On Saturday morning, the Lady Hornets returned to N Glynn Sports Complex to beat N Glynn Academy and followed by beating Brantley County. The girls returned to the field that evening for their final game beating Colquitt County 3 to 1 in a tight game. Danielle Downs, Kimberly Stoddard, and Courtney Ridings pitched excellent games giving very few walks. Catchers, Nicole Teefy and Kayleigh Briant were strong defenders in assisting their team with several outs. Kassidy Cancro had two walk on home runs during the tournament and several girls had good base hits. Jinni Pethel played a great defense in right outfield with many great catches. All of the Lady Hornets stayed positive in supporting their team mates on and off the field. Thank you players, coaches and parents for a memorable weekend and a trophy souvenir! |

| The next Applebee's Fundraiser will be Tuesday, February 15th. Please join us from 6pm - 8:30pm and help raise funds for new batting cages! Don't forget to bring a copy of the flyer for us to receive credit. |

The Hiram High School Softball Program is very excited about the implementation of the new feeder program. This program is available to 6th, 7th and 8th girls who are zoned to attend Hiram High School as a freshman. We will conduct tryouts on Monday, August 9 from 6-8 PM at Hiram High School and will continue the tryouts on Tuesday, August 10 form 6-8 PM at Hiram High School. If you are selected to play on the team there will be a fee of 175.00 per player. We have hired coaches to run this program in Tim Smith and Ryan Smith. We are very excited to have them on board as well. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at mbowles@paulding.k12.ga.us. There will be information given out once the team is selected. Your daughter must have a current physical on file to be able to tryout. You can access this information at www.paulding.k12.ga.us under the athletics section. |

It's Almost Time! Hiram High School Softball Tryouts will begin at 9 AM on Monday Aug. 2. Tryouts will conclude at Noon. Tryouts will be held at Hiram High School Softball Field. We will have tryouts on Tuesday, Aug. 3 at the same times. Aug. 4 and Aug. 5 Tryout times are TBD, However I will let the girls know something at the end of tryouts on Tuesday about times. Any girl that is participating in Nationals that week needs to notify Coach Bowles or Coach Howell before tryouts begin. You must have a current physical on file to participate in tryouts. Physical forms can be found on our county website at www.paulding.k12.ga.us under the athletics section. | Our regular season is almost over with 3 games remaining for the Varsity and two for the JV team. Please have all monies due to either the Booster Club for spirit wear or softball dues to Coach Caldwell paid by this week. This Saturday, August 31st, is Hiram Hornets Fastpitch Annual Pancake Breakfast at Applebee's of Hiram. Please turn in all money or unsold tickets by Tuesday or at the latest, Wednesdy at practice. We must tell Applebee's how many people we plan to serve by Thursday which is why all money MUST be in by Wednesday. Please plan to have the remaining balance of your player's due in by Friday, September 6th. A big thank you to Brandie Moon for planning all the pre-game meals for both Varsity and JV teams. We are accepting donations for fresh fruit, fruit cups, drinks, paper plates and napkins, plastic forks and spoons. Please bring any donations to the baseball's consession stand before any practice or game. The consession stand schedule is out. If you did not receive the email with your working date and time, please email us. Tonight's familes are Sturgeon, Baxter and Briants. This Thursday's familes for Varsity game is Hill, Houze, Hunter and Mahle and JV game is Downs, Kelly and Pethel. Please email us if you have a conflict. Thank you Parents, for all your involvement. PARENTS NEWS We had a first meeting this past Thursday, August 8th. Here are some of the important highlights: 1. Hiram Fastpitch Booster club is looking for new members to help make this the best season possible for our girls. The cost is only $25.00 for one parent or $40.00 for both. We are also looking for parents to organize, manage or volunteer for groups of the fastpitch season. We need help with concession stand, pregame meals, banners/sponors and fundraising. If you can help, please contact Kim Teefy, our Booster Club President, at hornetsfastpitch@ymail.com. 2. Every family will be asked to work the concession stand at one home game. The schedule will be out soon. If you choose not to be on the schedule or if you do not show, there is a $25.00 fee. 3. Players fees are due to Coach Caldwell this year and the check needs to made out to Hiram High School. In order for your player to receive her practice jerseys, she must pay for at least half her fees now. The rest will be due as soon as possible. 4. We already have started our fundraisers. Currently, the girls received a brochure for cookie dough sale and tickets for the Applebee's Pancake Breakfast on August 31, 2013. This event is fun for the girls. They love to serve breakfast to their family and friends. We encourage you to sell as many tickets as possible. Please call Kim if you need more tickets. Please look in your player's folders for information on the other fundraising opportunities available to each player. 5. We are looking for donations for water and concession stand items. Starting off a concession stand is costly. Each family can help by donating items such as case of water or Coke products, big boxes of individual bagged chips, candy or frozen meats for grilling. If you able to help out, please contact a member of the booster club board so we can meet you at the baseball concession stand with the items. 6. JV schedule will be listed under the calendar link. TRYOUTS!!! Hiram Lady Hornets will be holding their Softball tryouts on August 1st and 2nd from 4pm to 6pm. All students who wish to tryout must have a completed and signed physical form and Guidelines for Outdoor Extracurricular Activities form before they are able to take the field. Please bring the completed forms to Coach Caldwell at open house on July 30th or the first day of school. Forms can be downloaded from the Paulding School System website. Any players who have not returned last year's uniform, please do so on August 1st. We are looking forward to a great season. Go Hornets!!!!

I hope your HUNGRY for some flapjacks. Our annual Pancake Breakfast fundraiser will be held Saturday, July 31 from 8-10 AM at Applebees in Hiram. Tickets to be sold were handed out to your daughter last week and are due to me Thursday morning at the end of voluntary workouts. The tickets are $7 a piece and each girl was asked to sell 7. Please work hard on this fundraiser as we have uniforms to pay for, equipment to purchase, and tournaments to pay for. We will have many more fundraiser throughout the season including cookie dough sales, 20/20 letters, and banner sales. We will be asking each girl to contribute a player fee of $225 which can be raised through personal donations, 20/20 letters and banner sales. Thank You, Coach Bowles |
