Cinco Ranch was well represented on both the All-District and Academic All-District teams in the 2013-2014 season. Cinco finished the year with a 17-15 record, and an eleventh straight trip to the state playoffs.

Posted Feb 6/14 - Cinco set to take on Westside to tip-off the playoffs

Cinco Ranch will take on Houston Westside on Tuesday night at Coleman Coliseum in Spring Branch ISD at 7:00pm. The Cougars (17-15) are the 19-5A fourth seed, while the Wolves (24-7) enter as the number 1 seed out of 20-5A.  This will be part of a doubleheader with Bellaire taking on Memorial in the first game of the night.

Posted Feb 1/14 - Cougars clinch a playoff spot

Friday night was the regular season finale for the Lady Cougars, and they needed to make it count, needing a victory to clinch a playoff spot.  The Lady Cougars came out and made a statement right away in the first quarter scoring 25 points against the Katy Tigers.  However, the scrappy team from Katy didn't fold and put up a valiant fight througout the game.  The game wasn't decided until the closing minutes as Cinco Ranch secured the 68-57 victory.  The Lady Cougars received strong performances from Corin Evans with 29 points, Kelly Lynch with 18, Chanell O'Conner with 13, and a great defensive performance from Gracie Carrasco.

Posted Jan 31/14 - Cougars come up short against Spartans

On Wednesday night, the Lady Cougars traveled to district rival Seven Lakes after the game had been rescheduled from the previous day due to predictions of a treacherous winter storm.  The Cougars couldn't heat up fast enough and Seven Lakes got off to a blazing start to take a 19-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.  Cinco Ranch never overcame that slow start and Seven lakes went on to grab the victory by a final score of 58-35.  Corin Evans was the leading scorer for the Lady Cougars with 12 points.

The Lady Cougars came out on fire Tuesday night as they opened the game with a 20-2 run in the first 8 minutes of the game.  Corin Evans led the team with 23 points scored and Kelly Lynch had a solid all around game with 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists.  Cinco Ranch came away with a 54-29 victory and improved to 6-3 in district.

In district action Friday night, the Lady Cougars came out strong and took down the Lady Mavericks of Morton Ranch.  Corin Evans poured in 20 points, Chanell O'Conner had another 12, and Kelly Lynch contributed 8 as Cinco outdistanced Morton Ranch by a score of 53-28.  The Lady Cougars improve to 5-3 in district.  Next up, the Lady Cougars travel to Mayde Creek next Tuesday to take on the Lady Rams at 7PM.

Posted Jan 15/14 - Cougars lose hard fought battle in Overtime

On Tuesday night, the Lady Cougars traveled to Memorial High School in Spring Branch for a game that is always a heated battle.  Memorial came out of the gate strong and led 10-9 a the end of the first, then extended the lead to 5 as they had the Cougars down 28-23 at the half.  At the start of the 4th, Cinco Ranch was still losing 44-40, but the Lady Cougars battled back to send the game into overtime.  However, in overtime, Memorial finished stronger and held on for the win 65-61.  Cinco Ranch was led by Corin Evans with 20 points, Kelly Lynch with 12, and Makenzie Smith with 9.  The Lady Cougars fall to 4-3 in district and take on Morton Ranch at home Friday night.

Posted Jan 8/14 - Evans helps to elevate the Cougars over the Tigers

The Lady Cougars and Lady Tigers squared off at Katy on Tuesday night, and only one could be the victor.  The teams battled back and forth for the first half, as Cinco led 15-14 after 1, and 28-25 at the half.  However, the 3rd quarter was a different story as Corin Evans and Chanell O'Conner led the Cougars with high energy defense and potent offense as the Cougars went on a 21-7 run to put the game out of reach.  The Lady Cougars were led on the night by Evans with 31 pts and 8 boards, Kelly Lynch with 12 points, and Maryellen Hale with 7 points.  Cinco finishes the first half of district at 4-2 and has a bye on Friday before opening the 2nd half of district next Tuesday at Memorial at 7 PM.

After a disappointing first half Friday night, the Lady Cougars came out on fire in the 3rd quarter hitting a barrage of 3 pointers.  An impressive run saw the Cougars cut the lead to 6 at 39-33.  At the end of the night, the Spartans prevailed 67-48, as Cinco falls to 3-2 in district.  The Lady Cougars were led by Corin Evans with 26 points and 7 rebounds, Makenzie Smith with 7 points, and Chanell O'Conner with 5 assists.  Cinco Ranch returns to action next Tuesday at 7 PM at Katy.

In Day 2 of action at the Gulf Coast Classic, the Lady Cougars again went 1-1.  In the first game, Cinco Ranch defeated Beaumont Westbrook 57-35 with great team defense.  The Lady Cougars were led in scoring by Corin Evans with 24 points.  In the second game of the day, the Lady Cougars lost a tough game to a very good Port Arthur Memorial team 77-50.  The Cougars were again led in scoring by Corin Evans with 18 points.  Next up, Cinco returns to action at home vs. Seven Lakes next Friday Jan. 3rd at 7PM.

In district action Friday night, Kelly Lynch got the Lady Cougars off to a quick start with 10 of her 24 points coming in the first quarter.  Chanell O'Conner led a great team defensive effort with 9 steals against the scrappy Lady Rams of Mayde Creek.  In the end, Cinco Ranch prevailed 55-36, and improves to 3-0 in district.  Next up, the Lady Cougars travel to take on the Taylor Lady Mustangs on Friday Dec. 20th at 7 PM.

The Lady Cougars opened district play Tuesday night with a win over the Memorial Mustangs 55-28.  It was a great team effort led by numerous contributors off the bench.  Corin Evans led the way with 12 points, Kelly Lynch had 10, and Kayla Floyd and Kajia Blake were both a spark off the bench with 6 points a piece.  Next up is the Katy ISD Nike Classic Dec 5-7.

Posted Nov 26/13 - Lady Cougars tame the Tigers

On Monday night, the Tigers entered the Cougar den for an epic battle.  It was a back and forth battle all night, that saw the Cougars trailing at the end of each of the first three quarters.  However, the Lady Cougars came up big in the 4th quarter outscoring A&M Consolidated 19-9 to take the victory 51-50, thanks to a clutch shot by freshmen Valerie Chastain in the last minute of the game.  The Cougars were led by Kelly Lynch with 13 points and a great game on the glass, Corin Evans with 17 points, and Emilee Hatfield with 7 points.  Cinco Ranch improves to 5-6 on the year, while A&M Consolidated dropped to 6-3.

In tournament action this weekend, the Lady Cougars went 3-2 to earn 4th place in the Aldine tournament.  Along the way they defeated Ft. Bend Marshall 74-20, Aldine MacArthur 47-31, and Aldine Nimitz 68-43.  Cinco Ranch was led by all tournament performers Corin Evans and Chanell O'Conner, who had an outstanding tournament defensively.  Next up, A&M Consolidated on Monday at 7PM.

In girls basketball action Tuesday night, the Lady Cougars fell to Westside 43-33.  It was a back and forth battle for 3 quarters, with Cinco led by Corin Evans with 15 points and 7 rebounds.  However, Westside finished with a strong 4th quarter to pull away and earn the victory.  Cinco Ranch falls to 1-4 on the year and returns to action on Thursday at 4PM in the Aldine Tournamnent against Ft. Congratulations to the Lady Cougar freshmen basketball team on winning the Alief tournament this past weekend.  Along the way, they defeated Clements 47-9, Alief Taylor 67-9, and took down district foe Memorial 47-16 in the championship game.  Great job freshmen, keep up the good work!

KATY, TX---In the home opener Friday night, Kelly Lynch scored 21 pts and pulled down 11 rebounds to help lead Cinco Ranch to a 57-42 victory over Hastings.  A scrappy Hastings team kept things close for 3 quarters, but the Lady Cougars pulled away with a strong showing in the 4th quarter.  Emilee Hatfield also had an outstanding game with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists.  Cinco Ranch evens their record at 1-1 on the season, and will travel to play at Cy-Fair at 7PM on Tuesday.

Cinco Ranch will compete in the McDonald's Invitational starting on Thursday morning against some of the best the state of Texas has to offer.  The Pasadena based tournament is one of the premier tournaments in Texas each year.  The Cougars will start pool play on Thursday at 9:00am against #15 Bellaire.  At 3:30, Cinco will take on the state's #4 ranked 4A team, Mansfield Summit.  On Friday morning, the Cougars will round out pool play against the Pearland Oilers.

KATY, TX---Sydney Thomas scored 12 points and added five rebounds to lead Cinco Ranch to a 39-35 victory over Cy-Fair on Tuesday evening at CRHS.  The Cougars trailed 11-4 after one period but turned up the defense and held the Bobcats to just 2 points in the 2nd quarter and trailed just 13-11 at the break.  The Cougars had 13 steals on the evening, with Charissa Enget and Jaylon McClure each having four.  Cinco is now 1-2 on the season and will take part in the McDonald's Texas Invitational starting Thursday in Pasadena/Deer Park.

Posted Nov 13/12 - Thomas sparkles in Cougars loss to #3 Manvel
KATY, TX---Sydney Thomas scored a career high 24 points but Cinco Ranch fell 69-51 to #3 Manvel on Friday night at CRHS.  The Mavericks boasted the nation's number one recruit in 6'4" Brianna Turner, and the senior post did not disappoint, scoring 20 points on the evening.  Manvel had six different players score in the opening quarter to pull out to a 20-13 lead.  Thomas scored 7 of her points in the opening stanza and Angie Moore six of her eight points.  Manvel opened up a 37-20 lead at halftime.  Thomas scored 10 of her points in the third quarter and finished the night 11-11 from the free throw line.  Charissa Enget and Corin Evans each scored seven points for Cinco.  Cayla Vanderweide led the way with three assists.  Cinco went 22-27 on the night from the free throw line.

KATY, TX---Victoria Kemokai scored 15 of her game high 29 points in the 4th quarter to lift Fort Bend Bush to a season opening 46-42 victory over Cinco Ranch on Tuesday night at CRHS.  The Lady Cougars were led by Angie Moore's 14 points, while point guard Sydney Thomas added nine tallies on the evening.  Cinco led 11-10 after one period and 22-21 at halftime.  Moore had eight of her points in the opening quarter to pace the Cougars.  Cinco stretched its lead to 33-25 after three quarters, but Kemokai was too much in the fourth period, hitting 3 three-pointers while also going 4-4 from the free throw line.

Cinco Ranch senior Jaylon McClure has given a verbal commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at the University of Texas at Dallas.  The 5'9" senior averaged 3.7 ppg and 2.0 rpg during her junior campaign and helped lead the Lady Cougars to their 9th straight trip to the state playoffs.  McClure garnered Honorable Mention All-District honors in 19-5A.  She is also a two time Academic All-District Team selection for the Lady Cougars.

Cinco Ranch senior Taylor Williams has given a verbal commitment to play for the University of Texas-San Antonio.  The 6'2" senior was a 1st Team All-District player and 19-5A Defensive Player of the Year last year for the Cougars, who finished with a 26-9 record.  Williams averaged 4.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg, and 2.6 bpg.  She made her presence felt especially on the defensive end with 81 blocks, including 9 against Cy-Fair.  Williams is also a two-time Academic All-District selection for the Lady Cougars.

Cinco Ranch senior Angie Moore has verbaled to Colorado State-Pueblo to continue her academic and athletic careers.  The 6'1" Moore averaged 8.0 ppg and 5.7 rpg to help guide the Cougars to the Area Round of the state playoffs as a junior, while picking up 1st Team All-District honors in 19-5A.  Moore is a two time Academic All-District selection as well.

Posted Feb 13/12 - Cougars breakdown Lamar in 52-30 victory; advance to Area Round for 9th straight year

HOUSTON, TX---Megan Palmer scored 18 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to pace Cinco Ranch to a 52-30 victory over Lamar on Monday night at Stratford HS in the opening round of the Class 5A state playoffs.  The Cougars jumped out to a 17-6 lead after one quarter as Christy Williams scored six points and Palmer added five tallies.  Sydney Thomas provided a spark in the 2nd quarter, scoring five points, and the Cougars led at the half 29-10.  The lead grew to 40-12 late in the third quarter and Cinco coasted from there.  Williams scored 11 points on the evening to go along with four steals.

Cinco Ranch will take on Houston Lamar in the opening round of the state playoffs.  The game is part of a doubleheader at Stratford High School, with the first game pitting Seven Lakes and Westbury.  Cinco Ranch enters the playoffs as the second seed out of 19-5A, while the Redskins are 20-5A's third place finisher.  This will be Cinco's ninth consecutive trip to the state playoffs.

KATY, TX---Megan Palmer scored 22 points and had 10 rebounds, Sydney Thomas added 20 on nine for 12 shooting, and Cinco Ranch closed out the regular season with a resounding 76-21 victory at Katy on Tuesday night.  The Cougars enter the playoffs with a 25-8 record and finished 10-2 in district play.  They will enter the playoffs next week as the 2 seed out of 19-5A and will play the 20-5A third place finisher, most likely Lamar.

Posted Feb 3/12 - Senior Night is Cinco's Night in rout of Mavs, 62-35

KATY, TX---Megan Palmer scored 14 points, had 10 rebounds, and dished out seven assists, while also collecting her 1,000th career rebound as Cinco Ranch stormed past Morton Ranch 62-35 on Friday night at CRHS.  Shayne Ortiz and Angie Moore each collected 12 points in the win.  The Cougars honored seniors Ortiz, Whitney Jefferson, Morgan Hatfield, Williams, and Palmer as they started the game and helped the Cougars run out to a 17-11 lead after one quarter.  Palmer came out hot in the early going, hitting for 10 points in the opening eight minutes of play.  Ortiz hit two three-pointers in the 2nd quarter, and Moore collected six points in the paint as Cinco opened up a 31-15 lead at intermission.

KATY, TX---Christy Williams scored 17 points, Shayne Ortiz had 13, and Megan Palmer scored 12 to lead Cinco Ranch past Taylor on Tuesday night.  Jaylon McClure added 9 points on three 3-pointers, and Ortiz added three treys as the Cougars shot 42% from the field.  Cinco was also a season high 80% from the free throw line, hitting 12 of 15 from the charity stripe, all coming in the 2nd half.

Posted Jan 24/12 - Bigs pave way for Cougars in 49-39 win over Memorial

HOUSTON, TX---Megan Palmer scored 23 points and Angie Moore added 11 as Cinco Ranch upended Memorial on Tuesday night, 49-39 to improve to 7-2 in District 19-5A play.  The Cougars led 13-12 after one period as Palmer scored seven points.  The Mustangs hung tough behind five first half three pointers and trailed by just two, 23-21 at  intermission.  Palmer scored six more points in the third quarter, and the Cinco defense dug in and allowed just three points as the visitors took a 33-24 lead heading into the final quarter.  Sydney Thomas scored all 8 of her points in the final period to help stave off a Mustang rally.  Thomas knocked down two three-pointers to help ice the victory.  Palmer knocked down 10 of 15 shots from the floor.  Taylor Williams had four blocked shots, six rebounds, and three assists.  Moore had eight rebounds with five of them coming on the offensive end.  Shayne Ortiz, Moore, Taylor Williams, and Christy Williams led the way with three assists each.  The Cougars will be off on Friday and will travel to Taylor on Tuesday night, with sole possession of 2nd place on the line in 19-5A play.

Cinco Ranch senior Megan Palmer is a nominee for the prestigious McDonald's All-American Team for the 2011-2012 year.  Palmer is a Rice signee and has been a four year starter for the Cougars.  She currently has 1,357 points and 982 rebounds in her stellar career and is just the fourth honoree from Cinco Ranch to be recognized.  She joins Stefanie Gilbreath ('06-'07), Briana Gilbreath ('07-'08) and Demi Clinch ('09-'10).  The nominees will be chosen through a selection process and the chosen will play on March 28th in the 11th annual Girls game at the United Center in Chicago, IL.  The game will be televised on ESPNU.

KATY, TX---Christen Inman scored 23 points and Seven Lakes held off Cinco Ranch 38-32 on Friday night at SLHS.  The Spartans and Cougars were tied 19-19 at halftime, as Angie Moore scored 12 of her 14 points in the opening two quarters for Cinco.  Seven Lakes opened up a 29-25 lead going in the final quarter withstood a final Cougar rally.  Moore also grabbed 12 rebounds to pace Cinco on the evening.  The Cougars fall to 6-2 in 19-5A play and 21-8 overall.  The Spartans improved to 27-4 and 8-0 on the campaign.

KATY, TX---Megan Palmer scored 21 points on 9 of 13 shooting to lead Cinco Ranch to a 50-15 win over Katy on Friday night at CRHS.  Cinco led 32-9 at halftime as the outcome was never in doubt in the Cougars 20th win of the season.  It is the 10th straight season the Cougars have hit the 20 win mark.  Christy Williams dished out four assists, Taylor Williams swatted away three shots, and Angie Moore pulled down seven rebounds on the evening.  Jaylon McClure chipped in with six rebounds, Cayla Vanderweide and Moore each had three steals.

KATY, TX---Cinco Ranch outscored Morton Ranch 20-0 in the first quarter and cruised to a 57-17 win over Morton Ranch on Tuesday night at MRHS.  The Cougars led 36-6 at halftime and were never threatened in the second half to improve to 4-1 in District 19-5A play.  Angie Moore led Cinco with 12 points and ten different Cougars cracked the scoring column on the evening.  Cinco shot 58% from the field and dished out 19 assists.  Taylor Williams finished with eight points, Morgan Hatfield led the way with seven rebounds as the Cougars controlled the paint throughout.  Cayla Vanderweide was 3-3 from the field and Moore finished the night 5-6 shooting.  Cinco will take on Katy on Friday night at CRHS.

KATY, TX---Cinco Ranch rode a balanced scoring effort and a good defensive showing to defeat #23 Taylor 48-32 on Friday night at CRHS.  The Cougars led 9-4 after one quarter and 21-16 at halftime.  The Cougars came out hot after the break, as they tallied 19 points in the third quarter, led by Jaylon McClure's eight tallies, to lead 40-27 going into the final quarter.  Christy Williams scored nine points on the night, and Angie Moore had eight points.  Shayne Ortiz, Sydney Thomas, and Megan Palmer scored six points each to help get the victory.  Ortiz had four assists, Moore grabbed 10 rebounds, and Palmer had a game high eleven rebounds.  The Cougars improve to 3-1 in 19-5A play and 18-7 overall.

KATY, TX---Morgan Hatfield scored 10 points and had 9 rebounds and 4 steals to pace Cinco Ranch to a 69-26 victory over Sam Rayburn on Monday night at CRHS.  Megan Palmer scored a game high 12 points and Jaylon McClure added 10 for the Cougars.  Cinco jumped to a 17-2 lead after one quarter and led 35-8 at halftime to cruise to the win.  Sydney Thomas added six assists and Palmer had four blocks.  Cinco had 26 steals on the night, with Shayne Ortiz, Thomas, and Angie Moore each with five steals.  Cinco improved to 17-7 on the season and will take on the state's 23rd ranked team on Friday night, archrival Taylor.

DUNCANVILLE, TX---Sydney Thomas scored 12 points, Megan Palmer added 11, and Cinco Ranch defeated Mesquite Horn 36-28 on Wednesday evening to finish play in the Sandra Meadows Classic.  The Cougars led 21-17 at halftime controlled the 2nd half to improve to 16-7 on the season.  Christy Williams had four assists and four steals against her former team, while Thomas also had four steals in the win. The Cougars finished 1-2 in tournament play and will return home to face Sam Rayburn on Monday.  Cinco will return to district play on Friday and a date with #23 Taylor looming.

DUNCANVILLE, TX---Frisco Liberty held off a furious second half rally by Cinco Ranch to hold off the Cougars, 41-33 on Wednesday morning in the Sandra Meadows Classic.  The Cougars came out cold in the first half, managing just 10 points and trailed 23-10 at intermission.  Cinco cut the lead to two points in the fourth quarter, but could not finish off the comeback and fell to 0-2 in tournament play.  Sydney Thomas led the Cougars with 10 points, while Shayne Ortiz and Christy Williams each chipped in with seven points.  Megan Palmer had five assists and Taylor Williams had three blocks.  Cinco will take on Mesquite Horn at 6:00 tonight.

DUNCANVILLE, TX---Waxahachie used a 19 point fourth quarter to outlast Cinco Ranch 59-56 in the first round of the Sandra Meadows Classic in Duncanville on Tuesday afternoon.  The back and forth affair saw the Cougars take a 17-11 lead after one quarter, only to see the Indians get hot and outscore Cinco 21-12 in the second quarter to take a 32-29 lead into intermission.  The Cougars led by three points entering the final quarter before Waxahachie made their late run to pull out the victory.  Megan Palmer scored 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for Cinco.  Shayne Ortiz was 3 of 4 from the field and scored 9 points while also dishing out six assists.  Angie Moore was 4 of 5 from the field and finished with 9 points.  Cinco will take on Frisco Liberty on Wednesday morning in the losers bracket.

KATY, TX---Hightower held Cinco Ranch to just eight points in the 2nd half to pull out a 36-29 victory at CRHS on Monday.  Angie Moore led the Cougars with 14 points and also had five rebounds.  Megan Palmer grabbed seven rebounds for Cinco.  The Cougars led 21-19 at halftime, but Hightower outscored Cinco 17-8 over the final two quarters to improve to 16-4 on the season.  Cinco dropped to 15-5 with the loss.  The Cougars will travel to Duncanville over Christmas break to take part in the Sandra Meadows Classic, December 27th-29th.

KATY, TX---Megan Palmer had 19 points and 13 rebounds as Cinco Ranch defeated #11 Bellaire, 47-40 on Monday night at CRHS.   The Cougars never trailed in the game and improved their record to 14-4 on the season.  The Cardinals dropped to 14-3 with the loss.  Bellaire came into the game with losses to #4 Duncanville and #12 DeSoto, but Cinco played sharp and dominated the inside, grabbing 41 rebounds on the evening.

KATY, TX---Tierra Tucker scored 19 points and Blair Schaeffer added 18 to lead A&M Consolidated to a 41-36 come from behind victory over Cinco Ranch on Tuesday night.  The loss was Cinco's first this season after nine straight victories to start the season.  Megan Palmer scored a game high 16 for the Cougars, while also pulling down 11 rebounds in another double-double performance.  Sydney Thomas had seven assists and Christy Williams had 7 rebounds to aid the Cougars.  Cinco led 24-18 at halftime, but the Eagles (7-5) outscored Cinco 23-12 the rest of the way to pull out the road victory.

HOUSTON, TX---Megan Palmer scored 23 points and Sydney Thomas added 16 to lead Cinco Ranch to a 50-40 road victory over Westside on Monday night.  The Cougars 8-0 start is the best in school history.  Cinco led 25-13 at halftime and withstood a Westside rally in the third quarter to pull out the win.  Thomas shot 50% from the field on the evening while adding four assists.  Taylor Williams blocked four shots and pulled down ten rebounds in a strong defensive effort.  Palmer had a double-double with 11 rebounds to go along with her game high in points.

HOUSTON, TX---Sydney Thomas scored 19 points and Shayne Ortiz added 11 to lead Cinco Ranch into the championship game of the Mustang Classic on Saturday afternoon with a 48-35 victory over Second Baptist.  Cinco did much of their damage in the first half, scoring 34 of their 48 points in that span.  Cinco's defense did the job in the 2nd half, limiting Second Baptist to just 12 points , including three points in the final quarter.

Cinco Ranch senior Megan Palmer has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Rice University.  Palmer has been a four year starter for the Cougars and has helped Cinco to a 72-40 record during that span.  The 6'1" senior was named 2nd Team All-District after her freshman and sophomore years and was a 1st Team selection as a junior.  Palmer was also named to the prestigious All-Region Team by TABC (Texas Association of Basketball Coaches) as a junior.  She has also been Academic All-District for all three years.

KATY, TX---Megan Palmer scored 20 points and Sydney Thomas added 16 to help Cinco Ranch start their 2011-2012 season off on the right foot with a 56-43 victory over Fort Bend Bush on Tuesday night at CRHS.  The Cougars had five different players crack the scoring column in taking a 10-8 lead after one quarter.  Thomas, Palmer, Whitney Jefferson, Angie Moore, and Christy Williams scored two points apiece in the opening frame.  The second quarter belonged to Thomas, as she scored 12 of her 16 points to stake the Cougars to a 31-16 lead at the break.  Angie Moore scored all 7 of her points in the second quarter.  Palmer added 14 points in the 2nd half to put away the Broncos.  Thomas added 3 assists and 3 steals, and Palmer pulled down 15 rebounds in the winning effort.
