Over the summer, Beaver junior to be Bryce McQuivey played for the Vancouver Red Birds, an elite summer baseball program which included some of the top baseball players from all of Clark County. McQuivey more than held his own playing with and against some of the top players in the northwest, as he was a staples in the middle of the order and behind the plate for the Birds.
A pair of Beaver sophomores, Bryce McQuivey and Cy Whitmire, were recognized by the league's coaches as all-league members May 17th, as announced by league officials. McQuivey, who started most of the season at catcher but also saw time at third base, pitcher, and designated hitter, was tabbed by the league's coaches as a first team utility player. McQuivey hit .304 with 2 HRs, 12 RBIs, and 11 runs scored- all tops on the team for 2011. In addition, he also tied for the team lead in hits, walks, and on-base percentage. On top of his stellar work at the plate, McQuivey was also a standout defensively behind the dish for the Beavers, throwing out fifty percent of would be base-stealers.
