Waconia pitcher Brady Gibbs kept the Glencoe batters off balance all night. He pitched eight shutout innings, allowing just 6 hits and no walks.
"It gives you a great chance of winning when your pitcher doesn't allow any free bases on walks," said Lakers coach Ken Horner.
The Lakers got on the board with two runs in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Craig Laplante and then an RBI single by Brandon Hebig.
Waconia added to the lead in the seventh inning with a double by Ronnie Olson, driving in Nick Litfin and Andrew Fredericksen. Olson led the Lakers with two runs and two RBIs.
Fredericksen closed the game for the Lakers with a one-two-three ninth inning. With the win, Waconia improves to 9-2 overall and 8-1 in the Crow River League. |
