| Posted Jul 3/11 - Young America defeats Lakers 7-6 in 11 innings |
| The Lakers lost a tough game Thursday night in Young America. They jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning, but that lead did not last long. Young America scored two runs in the bottom of the inning. The Cardinals jumped out to a 5-2 lead after scoring a run in the sixth and seventh. Waconia battled back to take a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh. Young America answered right back in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at 6.
The next three innings were scoreless, as Ben Smothers pitched effectively for the Lakers. Meanwhile, a right-handed side-armer from Young America shut down Waconia. The Cardinals won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning with three straight hits.
Jeremy Salden led the Lakers with two hits, including an opposite field solo home run. Jeff Chrest and Eric Aeling also had two hits for Waconia.
The Lakers are now 12-2 in their division, one half game behind Winsted. |
