On a bright sunny Saturday, the Langley-Aldergrove Dodgers played both of the Cloverdale Spurs squads.  The Dodgers dropped both games, but played well especially against the Black Spurs who will be one of the best teams in the Province this year.                                                                  

Game 1 vs. Cloverdale Black Spurs

It was good to play 1 of the top teams right out of the gate and it definitely showed the coaches where more work is needed.  Other than two errors, the Dodgers defence played well.  However, the Cloverdale Black Spurs are a good hitting team and they made the home team pay the price when for giving them an extra out in two different innings.   Overall, it was a decent game, with batting and baserunning much improved, and pitching generally strong. The coaching staff is very pleased with the progress and see the young squad getting stronger and will be competitive with the best teams.

Game highlights included "Canine" (John Lipp) coming in cold after the arm of one of the Dodgers' pitchers seized up.  He came in and diid a great job, pitching 3 strong innings.  "Coley" (Cole Cantelon) closed the game going 2 innings and needed only 21 pitches to do the job.  The Coaches can't ask for more.  On offense, "K Mac" (Ethan Kano-McGregor) had 3 RBI's off of a bases-loaded triple. it was a great hit and great base running.  Barkie(Spencer Barkes) had a great game going 2/3.Could have been 3/3,But the right fielder came up throwing and gunned him out at first.

"Mitchie" (Mitchell Taylor) did a great job behind the plate.  With our other primary catcher still injured, Mitch ended up catching all 14 innings of the double-header.
