Posted May 6/12 - Angels split double-header against Nanaimo

The Angels rolled into Nanaimo on Sunday to face Nanaimo in a double-header.  In game 1, it took until the top of the 4th for the Angels offense to get going, scoring 3 runs.  Nanaimo came back with 1 run in the bottom of the 4th.  It stayed that way until the bottom of the 6th.  Nanaimo's one "power hitter" hit a two run homer to tie it. Score was 5-3 Angels after 6 innings.  In the top of the 7th, the Angels scored 2 runs due large in part to a great double by Liam.  An untimely pass ball and a double by the "power hitter" allowed Nanaimo to score 3 runs to eek out the victory in a close, hard fought game. Austin pitched great once again and lasted right until the 7th and was relieved by Liam.  Final score Nanaimo 6, Angels 5.

In game two, the Angels showed their bats early and jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings.  Nanaimo scored a run in the 4th and the Angels got it back in the 5th. Nanaimo's big hitter stepped up and hit a 2 run homer to make it 5-3 and they added another to make it 5-4 after 5 innings.  The Angels bats exploded for 5 runs in the 6th inning. Nanaimo battled back and scored 4 runs.  Heading into the 7th, the score was 10-8.  The Angels scored 1 run in the 7th.  With 1 out, Nanaimo put on a base runner, however his attempted steal to second was thwarted by Tanner.  The next batter went out and the Angels chalked up an 11-8 victory.   Sheldon, Liam, Noah and Chase pitched for the win.

Your Angels team showed real grit and stamina this weekend.  Four games, 2 days, 9 players. We're all proud of you boys!

Next game: Saturday, May 12th at Townline Park.
