WMBA along with Sports, will be holding a Player Development Camp in Winkler for age division 8U/Rookie Ball, 9/Rookie Ball, 11U/Mosquito, 13U/Peewee, 15U/Bantam in conjunction with an Umpire and Coaches Clinic on April 19, 20, 21. 5-TOOL Player Camps

This is a pilot project for 2013. This Development Camp would run from the middle of May to around the middle of August and target all areas of the province. Baseball Manitoba will hire two clinicians to travel around the Province and deliver a predesigned baseball clinic. The clinicians will be given proper training, practice plans, equipment and the use of the Baseball Manitoba van. The camp will run in 2 locations within each baseball league for a total of about 26 clinics. The 5 tools that this camp will focus on refer to throwing, running, fielding, hitting and game strategy. The camp will be focused around skill development for players from ages 6-13. Baseball Manitoba will seek the assistance of local coaches and Provincial Team players for delivery of the camp. The camp will be made as affordable as possible for players in order to be completely inclusive.

My First Pitch

This is an initiative to teach correct pitching mechanics to players aged 11U (Mosquito - 10-11 years old). Baseball Canada has developed a coach’s manual aimed at developing pitchers in this age group. The idea is for each league to host at least one My First Pitch clinic with local mentor and Baseball Manitoba coaches helping the club team coaches and players. Club team coaches will continue the program throughout the season.
