With two bloop singles, the Saskatoon A’s rallied from a two-run deficit to beat the Saskatoon Cardinals 8-5 on Tuesday night. Reid Brittnell started on the mound for the Cardinals pitching 5 innings before passing the ball to Bryden Gore in the sixth. Brittnell allowed 3 runs (two unearned) in the first inning before settling down finishing with seven Ks. Gore, who allowed one run in the sixth, came out in the seventh to try to seal the win for the Cards. However, the A’s scored 4 (two unearned) and the Cards could not answer back in their half of the seventh. This was the Cardinals first game in a week and although they played well at times, they continued to struggle with consistency. The best play for the Cardinals defence came when Graham Forrester made a great catch in centre field and then gunned down Eric McNeely who had tagged at second and tried to run to third. The Cardinals nearly held the A’s in the top of the seventh, but Tyler Stadnichuk couldn’t squeeze a bloop single along the right field foul line. Nolan Machibroda went 2-3 while Garrett Krawchuk and Riley Vinding each had singles.
The Cardinals now travel to Muenster for a game against the red hot Red Socks.
