Friday the 13th brought bad luck to the Adair County Indians in the form of the visiting Taylor County Cardinals, as the Cards finished the game strong, leaving John Burr Memorial with a lopsided 68-44 victory. With the win, the Cards move to 2-0 in the district and are at the top of the early season district standings. The game was close throughout the first three quarters, but Coach Richard Gatewood's team used a 21-7 fourth quarter to shut down the Indians. Sophomore Quentin Goodin led the way with 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Goodin attacked the rim all night, scoring on lay-ups and finding his way to the free throw line. The guard converted all 6 of his attempts. Caleb Wigginton contributed 16 points and 9 rebounds while junior forward Austin Webster hustled to earn 9 points and 8 rebounds. Freshmen duo David Sloan and Ezra Oliver added to the stats with Sloan scoring 13 points and Oliver racking up 7 assists and 6 steals. Assistant Coach Tim Peterson also performed well for the Cards. The win pushed the Cardinals season record to 3-0 before playing a team from across the river in Indiana's Richmond High School on Saturday night.
