Coming off of a tough loss to Lincoln County, the Cards rebounded by defeating the veteran Russell County Lakers in an exciting 76-63 win. Coach Richard Gatewood's team motored out of the docks and did not look back as the Cards picked up an important victory. Unlike the previous game, the Cardinals shot lights out and ended the game with a 56% shooting percentage from the field and 80% shooting percentage from the free-throw line. Forward Caleb Wigginton led the Cardinals in scoring as he tallied 23 points to go along with 7 rebounds. Guard Quentin Goodin totalled 20 points and 13 rebounds while forward Austin Webster added 14 points and 5 rebounds. Guards David Sloan and Ezra Oliver combined for 14 points and 9 assists. The Cards played tough from the beginning, using a smothering defense to shut down the offensive attack of Russell County while also pulling down 31 rebounds as a team. With the win, the Cardinals move to 11-4 on the season and look to pick up their third district win in as many tries at Campbellsville Friday night.
