It was good news and bad news for the Cards. The good news came to the Taylor County Cards while the bad news was given to the Nelson County edition. The Taylor County Cardinals dominated from the tip and extended an 18-point halftime lead to a 30-point winning margin, 80-50. The Cards were able to use their size and talent against Nelson County, grabbing 42 team rebounds and blocking 5 total shots. Forward Caleb Wigginton led the team in scoring, finishing with 33 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Quentin Goodin earned his first triple-double, scoring 22 points, assisting on 13 baskets, and pulling down 12 rebounds. Forward Austin Webster struggled from the field, but ended with 5 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 steals while Ezra Oliver added 4 points and 7 rebounds from the guard position. Guard David Sloan was stifled by Nelson County's defense, committing 6 turnovers, but was able to contribute 8 points and 4 assists. The Cards now move to 23-5 on the season and will match-up this Friday against Hopkinsville, the second ranked team in the state. The game is scheduled to tip at 8:30 EST and will surely prove to be a true test for the Cardinals before district and region tournaments.
