To the victors go the spoils. The Taylor County Cardinals were victorious in the District Championship game, achieving their first goal of the postseason. After a close-to-perfect start by both teams, the Cardinals were able to use the 2nd and 3rd quarters to pull away from the Adair County Indians, 71-48. Although the Cardinals shot a dismal 11 of 22 from the free throw line, their will to win significantly outmatched that of the Indians. The Cardinals have won three out of the past four district championships and were repeat champions. Guard Quentin Goodin finished  with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Goodin was named to the District All-Season and All-Tournament Teams. Forward Caleb Wigginton totalled 21 points and 6 rebounds and earned spots on the District All-Season, All-Tournament, and All-Academic Teams. Wigginton was also named Most Outstanding Player of the District Tournament. Guard David Sloan tallied 8 points and 7 rebounds while guard Ezra Oliver contributed 7 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Austin Webster only managed 2 points, but pulled down 7 rebounds. Both Sloan and Webster joined Goodin and Wigginton on the All-Tournament Team. The victorious Cardinals will face Thomas Nelson, the runners-up of the 19th district, in the first round of the region tournament on Thursday at 8:15.
