Katy, TX----The inside duo of Megan Palmer and Ashleigh Nwanguma combined for 26 points and 17 rebounds to power Cinco Ranch past Memorial on Tuesday night at CRHS.  The Lady Cougars improved to 20-12 with the win and took over sole possesion of 2nd place in District 19-5A with a 7-2 mark. 

Cinco controlled the action for the first three quarters, extending their lead from five points after one quarter to seven points at the half.  The Cougar lead ballooned to twelve points, 42-30, at the end of three quarters.  Memorial staged a big rally in the final period, outscoring the home team 16-5, but fell short as they fell to 13-14 on the year and 6-3 in the district. 

Cinco was white hot from the outside in the first quarter, as Shayne Ortiz, Anne Marie Zuilhof, and Emily Richard all hit three-pointers.  Nwanguma dominated the third period, scoring six straight points at one point and pulling down a number of rebounds in the frame.  Shayne Ortiz dished out five assists, and Zuilhof added four helpers.  Christy Williams pulled down five rebounds. 

Cinco Ranch has now won at least 20 games in eight consecutive seasons.  The Cougars have now won 11 of their past 12 contests as they head into their second half bye on Friday.
