Posted Jan 27/13 - Outlaws Announce 2013 Free Agent Class

Outlaws have sights on improvement with four big roster additions.

If the Southwest Outlaws were to be graded on their off season acquisitions, I'm guessing an A+ would be in order.

#17 Jesse "Muff" Teerink / OF- led the 2013 free agent class, making his announcement shortly after the Wilmont Cardinals finished up play in 2012. Muff is a 17 year veteran of the Cardinals and joins many of his former teammates in an Outlaws uniform. Jesse adds speed to the outfield and provides yet another threat at the plate. Muff also sets a new record for the Outlaws being the first player to have surgery prior to playing a single game. Muffy goes under the knife in a matter of hours to scope a nagging knee injury. The surgery shouldn't be an issue though as Muff will have plenty of time to recover prior to action this summer. Hit him up and give him your best.

(Number Undecided) Paul Oelrich - OF/P- is yet another outfielder with speed and power. Paul played college ball at Itasca community college and at St. Andrews in North Carolina.  His amateur years were spent playing in Bemidji Minnesota. Olerich will bolster the Outlaw's pitching staff due to the fact his balls are old enough to put him on the hill.

#29 Ryan Carlson - 1b/P- provides additional much needed depth to the Outlaws pitching staff.  A longtime amateur baller as a Welcome Merchant, Carlson is known for is on field savy.  Ryan is a student of the game and a constant comeptitor.  The older of the two Carlsons, Ryan is a big powerful first baseman who should immediately provide added pop at the plate, and like Meyer, is another big target that infielders can appreciate on the corner.

#9 Grant Carlson - C/P - joins his brother Ryan in the Outlaw's red and black.  Grant played his amateur ball with the Welcome Merchants, Fox Lake Foxes and the Jackson Bulls.  Grant has been away from baseball for a few years, but I would be willing to bet that if still playing amateur ball, he would still be classified as one of the best catchers in Region 13.  A human back stop with a cannon for an arm, Grant will bring much needed skill and experience to the Outlaws catching position.  Grant also has an old enough groin to pitch....so we're thankful for that also.

The excitement builds as the Outlaws count the days until the 2013 season gets under way.  There still could be a few more moves prior to opening day, but things are looking up with these guys joining the team.  The key for the Outlaws coming off of a 6-9 2012 season is pitching depth.  The Outlaws have extremely high hopes with the pieces they now have in place.
