Posted Jun 16/13 - Miller tosses complete game as Outlaws defeat the Legends 5-1.

Chad Wiertzema and Paul Olerich drive in two each as Outlaws remain unbeaten.

Southwest Outlaws defeat the Le Sueuer Henderson Legends 5-1

Ryan Carlson went 3-3 at the plate, sparking Southwest Outlaws to a 5-1 victory in seven innings over Le Sueuer Henderson Legends on Sunday at Henderson.  Carlson also showed up to the field and went through pre-game warm-ups with a big black cowboy hat perched on his head.  I'm guessing that hat will make an appearance in Belle Plaine next week also.  Ryan singled in the second, fifth, and seventh innings.

Jeff Miller struck out 11 hitters en route to another complete game win. Miller allowed no earned runs on six hits and three walks over seven innings.

In the first inning, Le Sueuer Henderson Legends pushed across their only run of the day on an RBI single by Mike Simota.

The Outlaws went up for good in the second, scoring two runs on a two-rbi single off the bat of Chad Wiertzema.    The runs were a result of a two out rally by the Outlaws.  Chris Nelson, Grant Carlson and Ryan Carson put together back to back to back singles to load the bases for Wertz.  Chad laced one down the right field line to put the Outlaws up by one run.  I do believe there was a day Wertz would have turned that line drive into a double, but...those days are long gone.  hahahahaahhhaha!  Sorry Wertz I had to.

The Welcome crew increased their lead with a three run frame in the sixth. The inning looked promising, as Sam Baumgartner and Ryan Meyer reached on back to back singles to start the inning.  Paul Oelrich then doubled, plating Baumgartner and Meyer.  One batter later Jeff Appel lined a single to center, plating the speedy Oelrich and putting the Outlaws up 5-1.

The lead was all that Jeff "Spanky" Miller would need as he improved to 2-0 on the year and kept the Outlaws squad unbeaten improving to 3-0.

It was a break out day for many Outlaws at the plate.  As previously mentioned Ryan Carson made the game of baseball appear easy going 3 for 3 on the day.  Sam Baumgartner, Ryan Meyer and Chad Wiertzema all had a two hit day with Wiertzema providing the 2RBI spark in the 2nd.  Paul Oelrich was 1 for 3 with the other big two RBI double and Jeff Appel was 1 for 3 with an RBI.  Chris Nelson, Grant Carson, and Jason Beckett also added a hit each.

Next up for the Outlaws is an evening double header in Belle Plaine on June 23rd.  The Outlaws face the Belle Plaine Gray Tigers at 4:00pm and the New Hope Bandits at 6:00.
