Posted May 28/10 - Mudcats crush Nashwauk
The Bemidji Mudcats exploded into the Arrowhead League season Wednesday night bombing the Nashwauk Colts 12-0 at BSU.

Tonight they host the Midway Snurdbirds in a non-league game at 7:30 at the college with Doug Peterson getting his first start.

Bemidji wasted little time in wrapping up the Wednesday clash scoring twice in the first and three in the third to take a 5-0 lead. A seven–run fifth put the game away two innings early.

Paul Fenner went the first five allowing two hits with lefthander Keenan Humphrey finishing the three-hitter. Fenner had seven strikeouts and one walk. Hamline sophomore Humphrey went the final two.

Veteran Sam Martire went the route for the visitors fanning eight and walking three but was pounded for 16 hits.

Manager Neil Huewe sent 17 players into action with 12 getting hits. Andrew Hengel had three with Dan Nolan and Simon Anderson getting two. All but one were singles.

Hits by Hengel, Nolan and Jeff Schaper around two errors sent home the first inning runs.

Nolan’s double and singles by Peterson, Brent Magnuson, Dan Bauer and Hengel made it 5-0 in the third.

Anderson, Tony Klaers, Nolan, Kyle Figgins and Anderson again singled in the big fifth.

Fenner gave up singles to Sam and Joe Martire in the first and fourth and Humphrey a one-bagger to Pat Steele in the seventh.
