Posted Apr 11/12 - Beavers Fall Short

Woodland nearly completed a comeback without getting a single hit in the seventh inning but fell 4-2 to Hockinson in Greater St. Helens 2A League baseball Tuesday in Woodland.  The Beavers (3-5, 1-2 in league) trailed 4-0 entering the bottom of the seventh when the Hawks nearly imploded.

After an out to start the inning, Woodland loaded the bases on a hit batter and two errors. Hockinson recorded a strikeout for the second out, but another error scored two runs. Another walk re-loaded the bases.  That sent the Beavers’ most consistent hitter, Tanner Huddleston, to the plate. Huddleston took three straight balls and then two strikes before grounding out to end the game.

Trevor Huddleston took the loss on the mound, surrendering four unearned runs in 3 1/3 innings. He struck out four and gave up five hits.  Woodland committed three errors and had four hits
