Posted Apr 5/12 - JCHS Falls To Unicoi County
All you can ask out of your starting pitcher is to give you a chance to win.  Ryan Mahala pitched well enough to win on Wednesday April 4th.  The righthander threw his 3rd complete game of the 2012 season.  Here are the highlights:

*Mahala threw 115 pitches (68 for strikes) in his complete game effort.  He struck out 5, against 4 walks.  Mahala is now 3-1 on the season.  He also hit his 4th double off the year, a gap shot to left-center.

*First baseman, Daniel Helm, hit his 5th double of the season and raised his season batting average to .472.  In should not go without notice that Helm always displays a team first attitude and goes about his business in a professional manner.

*Jacob Henson also hit his 5th double of the 2012 season in the bottom of the 5th, scoring Judd Hammons, who led off the inning with a 2B.  Henson is hitting .378 on the season, with a .465 on base percentage.  He has a 3B, HR, 6 2B, 6 SB, 11 RBI, and has scored 15 runs, for a nice overall offensive season up to this point.

*Shortstop, Judd Hammons hit his 3rd double of the year, the 4th hit by JCHS batters on the afternoon.

*Dusty Stout recorded a base hit in the bottom of the 7th and previously contributed with a sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the 3rd, moving over Bobby Taylor, courtesy runner for catcher, Ryan Smith.

*Smith went 2-3 at the dish, raising his season average to .267 in 15 at-bats.

We will travel to Elizabethton tomorrow to play the Cyclones.  This game is scheduled because of our being washed out Tuesday night at Elizabethton.  First pitch is schedule for 12:00 noon.  Andy Woods, who only threw 36 pitches on Tuesday, will once again take the ball for the Longhorns.  The JV Longhorns will follow.  Judd Hammons will be on the rubber for Johnson County

I want to take the time to thank our parents and fans.  We have some of the most supportive parents in Northeast Tennessee.  If you agree or disagree with the decisions that are made, you remain supportive and conduct yourself in a first class manner.  You are to be commended for that.  Thank you.
