Posted Apr 17/12 - Longhorns Earn Fourth Conference Win Of The Season
JCHS took the season series from the Happy Valley Warriors, outscoring the tribe 21-6 over the final two games, including a 11-5 win on Monday, April 16th.  Andy Woods evened his career record up at 6-6 (Varsity & JV) and earned his first career Varsity win.

*Baseball is a funny game.  Shorstop, Judd Hammons, by his own admission, had a difficult offensive first half of the 2012 season.  He is making up for it in the second half.  Hammons has 10 hits in his last 15 at-bats, to raise his season average to .385 to go along with a .458 on base percentage, which is second on the club behind Daniel Helm's .509 OBP.  Judd has also been playing more consistent defense at the shortstop position.

*Daniel Helm went 3-4 with two doubles and 2 RBI, and crossed the plate three times.  Helm now has seven doubles and seventeen runs batted in on the year.  He is hitting a robust .462.

*Slugger, Harley Reece, went 2-4 with a 2B and 2 RBI.  Reece leads the ball club with eight doubles and is second with 16 runs batted in.  He also pitched three shutout innings of relief out of the bullpen, coming off of his first win of the season last Thursday, April 12th at the Hampton Bulldogs.

*Jacob Henson went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBI.  He stole two bases and scored a run.

*Dusty Stout, Chad Hodgkiss, and Andy Stout all recorded base knocks for Johnson County.  Andy Stout had an outfield assist, doubling a runner off second base, and Chad Hodgkiss had an assist from shall RF, doubling a Warrior runner off first base.

The Longhorns travel to Unicoi County today for a big regular season baseball game against the Blue Devils.  Unicoi is coming off of an 18-3 pounding of the Sullivan North Raiders on Monday evening.  A win for JCHS would move the Longhorns one game behind the Blue Devils in the win column in the Three Rivers Conference.  Ryan Mahala will be looking for his fifth win of the regular season and fourth conference win.
