Posted Apr 5/10 - Blue Devils 12 Longhorns 3

For the second game this season the Johnson County Longhorns had a 3-0 lead on the Unicoi County Blue Devils in the bottom of the first inning, but for the second time this season, that lead did not hold up.  On Monday evening, it was not even close.  Cody Greer took the ball on the mound for the Longhorns, but he battled shoulder soreness, which lead to unusual wildness for Greer.  Greer walked 5 in his 2 innings of work.  Mark Jennings came in and pitched his best baseball of the young season.  He gave up 3 earned runs in his 5 IP.  He was also responsible for the Johnson County runs, as he hit a bases clearing 2B that was responsible for those runs in the 1st inning.  Sawyer Ward and Eric Cullop both had base knocks and scored runs.  Tyler Fenner scored a run on a BB, and made three very nice defensive plays at 1B.  Austin Humphrey, Sammy Hampton, and Greer also had base hits for the home team.  It was just a frustrating game, because we realize we did not play well, but we do not think Unicoi County played really good baseball either, but the final score was not close to being in our favor.  We have to rebound quickly, because we travel to Elizabethton to play the Cyclones on Tuesday.  The Cyclones will be looking to recover from a Monday loss at the hands of the Happy Valley Warriors.
