In a battle between two unbeaten teams in the Cornbelt League, the Bird Island Bullfrog’s hot bats were too much for the Raymond Rockets. The Frogs defeated the Rockets 12-7 on Sunday afternoon.
The Frogs scored 1 run in the first inning on a solo homerun by Dylan Gass, and added another in the second when Tyler Seehusen walked and scored on a double by Gass. The Rockets answered with 1 run of their own in the2nd and 1 in the 3rd.
The Frogs then opened it up in the 4th when Andrew Brooks and Seehusen led off the inning with singles. Brooks scored on a single by Jake Marcus, and Seehusen scored on an error. Gass then walked and Shawn Dollerschell hit a single. Both scored on 3 run homerun by Tyler Hebrink.
The Frogs added another run in the 5th on a solo HR by Logan Sandgren, the first of his Bullfrogs career. It didn’t take long for Sandgren to get his second, when he hit another in the 6th inning.
The Rockets added 2 runs in the 6th and 2 runs in the 9th, but it wasn’t enough as the Frogs won 12-7.
Jesse Bjur pitched 7-2/3 innings to pick up the victory, scattering 5 runs on 8 hits, and striking out 7 batters. Dylan Gass pitched the final 1-1/3 innings to preserve the victory.
