Madison East took on one of the top teams in the Big Eight conference last night in Madison Memorial. It was a physical game with both sides getting great looks in front of goal. The break through did not come until the 83rd minute when Madison Memorial scored a controversial free kick from the top of the 18 yard box. Madison East had chances in the final moments of the game but was unable to put anything away. East finds itself 2-2 in conference with their next match coming Thursday evening at Janesville Craig. Madison East took on one of the top teams in the Big Eight conference last night in Madison Memorial. Game Reposrt - Beloit Memorial 4.26.18

Madison East took on Beloit Memorial in conference play Thursday night at Breese Stevens. Beloit came into the game with an impressive record as well as roster. At 6-0-1 the Nitro were undefeated on the season and have the leading goal scorer and leading assist giver in the state according to wissspots.com. East was eager for the challenge though and from the first whistle proved they deserved the respect Beloit was getting. The first half was a tight affair with a lot of physical play and few true chances in front of goal. The half ended 0-0 with all to play for in the second.

Coming out of the locker-room, East was forced to make a change in back as they dealt with an injury. With that, the East back line and midfield stepped up even more shutting down the Beloit attack. The break through came in the 80th minute as Beloit pounced on a loose ball 30 yards out and with one pass found themselves in on goal. With a calm finish Beloit found themselves ahead with 10 minutes to play. This did not break East however and just 2 minutes later, Colleen Milligan found space wide and was able to beat her defender to the end line where she played a ball to the middle where Angelina Perez was waiting to even the game. The deadlock would not last though as just two minutes later, Perez picked up the ball at midfield and beat her defender. She was able to hold off her defender until 20 yards out when she drove a shot to the far post and beat the keeper. East found themselves up with only 6 minutes remaining. Defensively East shut Beloit down in the final minutes to see out the 2-1 win. This improves East to 2-1 in conference and tied for second place. East next game will be Tuesday May 1 vs Madison Memorial at Breese Stevens.

Game Report - Janesville Parker 4.24.18

Madison East got back on track on Tuesday with a 3-0 away win vs Janesville Parker. Parker came out with a very clear game plan to draw East offsides as many times as possible by holding a high defensive line. Although East dominated the early portion of the game, this game plan turned out to be very effective holding East off the score sheet until the 43rd minute when freshman Marin Cohan was able to push the ball through the high line and find herself in one on one with the keeper. Marin calmly slotted the ball past the keeper and East went into the half up 1-0.

It was more of the same in the second half until Clara Fesemyer played a great through ball into the box where Emma Falk was able to clean up on the back post. East scoring was capped when Angelina Perez was pulled down from behind in the box and was able to finish from the penalty spot. A 3-0 final sees East improve their season record to 3-2-1 and a 1-1-0 conference record. East will take on Beloit on Thursday night at Breese Stevens in their next match.

Game Report - Sun Prairie 4.20.18

Madison East faced a very talented Sun Prairie team with a limited roster on Friday. Although the effort was evident, Sun Prairie proved to be overwhelming on the day. Madison East looks to bounce back on Tuesday with an away game in Janesville at Parker.

Game Report - Appleton West 4.12.18

Madison East took their first loss of the season falling to visiting Appleton West 4-0 in non-conference play. East looks to bounce back with a win in their first conference game Tuesday April 17 vs Sun Prairie.

Game Report - Madison LaFollette 4.10.18 - Lussier Cup

Madison East put an emphatic stamp on the 2018 Lussier Cup. For the first time in 3 years, the Lussier Cup has returned to Madison East. East got off to a slow start but was given the spark they were looking for from the SR. captain Emma Falk who in the 15th minute followed up a shot that got past the keeper. Falk was able to calm tuck the ball into the open net to give East the 1-0 lead. It was again Falk this time setting up freshman Nadia Wedge for her first of the season. It appeared as though East was in control at this point. As any good rivalry though, LaFollette fought hard and with only seconds left in the half cut the East lead to one. East would take a 2-1 lead to the locker room but LaFollette was the team with the momentum.

Any ideas of a full comeback though were quickly extinguished by East and their defensive pressure. East pushed hard early in the second half and did not allow LaFollette any time or momentum on the ball. This pressure paid off for East in the 57th minute when Clara Fesemyer found Perez in the box to make it 3-1 East. Perez notched her third goal in two games for the Purgolders. Fesemyer wasn't done as again Falk found Fesemyer streaking through the box in the 63rd minute to make it 4-1 East. East capped the night and the scoring in the 77th minute when Jisselle Ayala found Nadia Wedge for her second of the game. A well-deserved 5-1 win for the Purgolders and the right to hoist the Lussier Cup once again. Congratulations girls!

East next action is Thursday April 12th when they welcome Appleton West to Madison College at 5 pm.

Game Recap - Racine Case 4.7.18

Madison East and Racine Case found themselves in a unique but familiar situation on Sat when the temperature at kick-off was 15 degrees. Although chilly, Madison East came out strong and set the tone for the game very early on. In the 8th minute, Angelina Perez picked the ball up near midfield and dribbled through a few Racine Case tackles to find herself in on goal where she got her 2018 campaign started by calmly slotting the ball past the keeper. East continued to pressure the ball high in Racine Case's end and found themselves with many opportunities to finish. The next breakthrough came in the 20th minute when Carleigh Drill drove a recycled ball from a corner kick back into the box where again Perez was there to clean it up. Her second of the game and as many on the season. East then defended well for a long period of time holding Racine to no shots on target in the first half. Just before half in the 44th minute, freshman Nadia Wedge played fellow freshman Clara Fesemyer in past the Case defense. Clara finished a great one two to open her scoring on the season and put East 3-0 up going into the half.

The second half started very much the same way as the first half. Evelyn Anton recorded her third goal of the young season just 5 minutes in. She received a centering pass from Nadia Wedge, who recorded her second assist of the game, and calmly finished past the keeper. Madison East comfortably saw the game out from there. The final was 4-1. Madison East next action is a big one as they will face Madison LaFollette for the Lussier Cup Tuesday April 10 at Breese. Kick-off will be at 7 PM. Spread the word as we would love to have big support for this East side derby.

 Game Recap - McFarland 4.3.18

20 degrees and driving snow is not typical soccer weather; yet that is exactly what awaited Madison East and McFarland in the opening game of the 2018 season. In a game that saw Madison East dominate possession as well as scoring opportunities, it was McFarland that scored first against the run of play. East was quick to respond though their first goal of the season and Evelyn Anton's first goal of her Madison East career. It was set up by a long ball played through the defense from Angelina Perez out of the center midfield. Evelyn's first touch took her around the keeper where she calmly finished into the open net to tie the game at 1. East was again well in control heading into half with great possession starting with the back line and outside mids. This opened up play for our central players allowing for some great scoring opportunities. McFarland stuck around and struck again against the run of play 2 minutes before half. Although East was feeling positive about the first half of play they found themselves down 2-1 at half.

The second half was the same story as the first. Madison East dominated in possession and opportunities this time being lead by the center mids who created opportunity for the wide players. East inability to finish in front of goal in the tough conditions continued until Evelyn Anton again found the back of the net from a nice combination on top of the box with Perez and freshman Marin Cohan who slid Anton in on goal. Anton played preformed like a seasoned upperclassman on the evening and slipped the ball past the keeper for her second on the evening. Although the opportunity presented itself, Anton and Madison East were unable to find a third. The game ended 2-2. A well fought performance resulting in well deserved confidence for the young Madison East side.

East is scheduled to return to the pitch on Sat April 7th vs Racine Case at 11 AM at Breese Stevens Stadium.

2018 - Spring Tryout Format

As has been for the previous 5 years, all players will be able to choose which tryout they would like to attend, JV or Varsity. The JV group will be with coach Crossley and coach Strader, the varsity group will be with coach Koenig and coach Kornish on Monday. Tuesday coaches will switch the group they are working with in order to allow all players to be seen by each coach. Players will be able to choose their level at the beginning of each session. Wednesday and Thursday coaches will be working with the group they are going to coach for the season. A player choosing JV day one will not be "stuck" there if they would like to move up and same for Varsity if they would like to move down. Throughout the week coaches will make suggestions to players to move to Varsity or the JV tryout. These are suggestions based on the needs of the player and where they will have an opportunity to contribute to the program.
Final decisions will not be made until after tryouts on Thursday March 23rd. At that time they will be posted to this website using a combination of assigned numbers and player initials.
For further questions, please feel free to email coach Kornish.
