The Midget AAA Royals rode their second 4-0 weekend of the young season to first place in the BC Midget AAA League, after sweeping double-headers from Kamloops and Cloverdale.
On Saturday the Royals traveled to Kamloops to take on the Riverdogs, seeking some revenge after Kamloops handed Ridge Meadows their only two losses of the season a few weeks ago. In the first game, Seth Injates took the mound and threw four solid innings to pick up a 5-1 win. Miguel Norquist picked up the save. Nick Peters paced the offence, going 3-4 with a double, RBI, and a run. Game two saw an offensive explosion, as the Royals pounded out 13 runs on 13 hits while drawing 9 walks en route to a 13-2 mercy win. Trevor Reed pitched a complete game for the Royals in the victory.
On Sunday, the Royals returned home to play a Mother's Day double-header against the Cloverdale Spurs. Chris Bailey took the ball for the Royals in the first game of the day, and was dominant in allowing only 5 hits en route to a complete game 1-0 shutout. Bailey struck out a season-high 12 batters in the win. In the final game of the weekend, Kyron Smith went 4-4 with a double, a walk, and two RBI's including driving in the game-winning run on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh to give the Royals a 9-8 victory and a perfect weekend.
The team currently sits with an 11-2 record as they head in to a bit of a break from league play as they are entering a tournament in Aldergrove next weekend.
