(OMAHA, NE) The St. Louis Surge women’s professional basketball franchise fell to 1-1 on the season with a 93-85 setback to the Nebraska Strikers Saturday night at Grace University.

St. Louis trailed 46-37 at intermission but a 26-16 charge in the third quarter put the Surge in front, 63-62, heading into the final frame.

With clutch shooting in the fourth, Nebraska outscored the Surge, 30-23, en route to the eight-point win to improve to 2-0 and claim the top spot in the six-team Midwest Division of the Women’s Blue Chip Basketball League (WBCBL).

St. Louis plays a pair of road games next weekend. Saturday’s game against Iowa Force (0-1) is followed by a Sunday afternoon tilt with Flyers Elite (1-0) in Elsberry, MO.
