As the season of potential bad weather approaches it is necessary to issue some guidelines about what we will do in the case of inclement weather and our policy on missed practice.
If the weather turns bad on a Saturday before a Sunday practice I will send a group e-mail concerning if practice will be held by Saturday evening. If the weather turns bad Saturday night or Sunday morning the e-mail will be sent Sunday morning. If the weather turns bad midday on Sunday, I will try to send e-mails prior to you leaving for our 3:00 or 3:30 practices. I will also post what is happening on the website:
www.ballchart.com/swvajvb. I am often not home on Sunday morning so calling is not a great plan.
Always use your best judgment as to whether you wish to try to make practice since weather conditions can vary greatly between Salem, Roanoke, Radford, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Galax, Bristol, Wytheville and Hillsville.
If you must miss a practice, please try to inform the club director by Friday prior to the practice you will miss. I don’t check my school e-mail account very often on weekends, so please use the e-mail address on the website. I will let the coach know that the athlete will miss. However, there is not penalty for missing practice, except that you lose the chance to improve. Court time is not based on practice attendance. If you are not there we will assume that you had a good reason to miss and that you will be at the next practice. Missing costs the parent money and the athlete the reps and information they would have received had they been at practice.
