BRIAN SMITH - HEAD COACH - CEDAR SHOALS VARSITY BASEBALL
Coach Smith is entering his 12th year of coaching baseball. Smith started out in 1993 as an assistant at Dekalb Junior College. In 1994, he took the head coaching job at Butler High School in Augusta for three years. In 1998, he moved to Athens and the joined the baseball program at Cedar Shoals. While in Athens, Smith received his Masters degree in Educational Leadership.
Coach Smith played high school ball at Westside in Augusta, where they won back to back AAA state championships in 1997 & 1998. He started his college ball at South Georgia Junior College, where he was named MVP, all conference and all tournament. In his junior year, Smith played Division I baseball at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. In 1992, Smith signed with Kennesaw State University and was named Offensive MVP and all conference. He graduated in 1993 with a BS in Exercise Science.
Coach Smith and his wife Valarie have been married for 9 years and have three boys; Parker 6, Zack 4, and Pate 1.
