Head Coach - Kellen Greer 

Coach Greer is entering his 9th season as the Head Coach of the Sparkman Senators. His teams have compiled an overall record of 201-138, including a trip to the 6A State Finals in 2014. Coach Greer has helped 30 players move on to play at the college level during his tenure. He has twice been named 6A Metro Coach of the Year, in 2008 and most recently in 2014.

Prior to coming to Sparkman High School, Coach Greer spent three seasons as the Assistant Coach at Northwest Shoals Community College. With his assistance the Patriots went to three regional tournaments and in 2006 won the AJCCA Northern Conference Championship.

Education: BS in Physical Education, Athens State University.

Coach Greer is married to the former Sherri Nicholson, and they share two daughters: Reagan (4) and Catelyn (3).
 

 

Bradley Futch - Varsity

Coach Futch is entering his third year at Sparkman as an Assistant Coach for Baseball and Cross Country and as a Math teacher. He graduated from Huntsville High School in 2005 earning all city and all metro honorable mention honors as an infielder. He then walked on to play baseball at Troy University. Coach Futch played 3 years and was a student assistant coach for 1 year. He graduated in 2009 with a bachelors degree in Mathematics.

Before coming to Sparkman, Coach Futch taught and coached basketball and baseball at Huntsville High from 2009 to 2012. During his tenure as Assistant Coach at HH, the 2011 6A Panthers won a baseball State Championship.
 

Coach Futch married the former Maggie Bissell in June 2013.

 

 

Coach Brewer - Varsity

Coach Brewer is a 1997 graduate of Central High School in Florence where he was a 3 year starter and was a member of 3 state championship finals teams and a member of the 1996 State Championship team.  After high school, Coach Brewer played college ball at Calhoun Community College where he was a 2 year starter.  During his time at Calhoun, Coach Brewer was 2nd team All-Conference as well as voted to the All-State Freshman team.

 Coaching experience includes football, baseball and softball at Sheffield High School, football and baseball at Bob Jones High School and baseball at Grissom High School. Coach Brewer has a B.S. in Mathematics with a minor in Business Administration from Athens State University, a M.S. in Mathematics from Arkansas State University and an M.A. in Mathematics Education from the University of North Alabama.

Coach Brewer is married to the former Shandi Durham of Hazel Green and they have one son, Jaxton.

 

 

Ben Stevenson - JV

Coach Stevenson graduated from Sparkman High School in 2007 lettering in football and baseball. He graduated from the University of North Alabama in 2012. While attending UNA he served as the baseball manager/undergraduate assistant to the UNA baseball program for 4 years. Coach Stevenson started working at Sparkman in 2012 and is an assistant to the varsity football team and is the head coach of the freshman baseball team.

Coach Stevenson is married to the former Linzee Crunk of Killen, Alabama.

 

 

Franco Blackburn - Freshman

Coach Blackburn graduated from J. O. Johnson High School in 1997 and played baseball where he was a 4 year starter and earned all-city and all metro honors as an infielder.  He also lettered in basketball.  After high school, Coach Blackburn played college baseball at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he played on 3 Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship teams and was selected as West Division Freshman of the Year.  Coach Blackburn earned a B.S. in Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science.  After college, Coach Blackburn was drafted and played minor league baseball for the Florida Marlins and an Independent team, the Montgomery Wings.

Coaching experience includes football and basketball at Davis Hills Middle School, baseball at Columbia High School and a 9 and under traveling baseball team, the “Monrovia Monarchs”.

Coach Blackburn is married to the former Elisabeth Kelley of Troy, Michigan and they have one daughter, Eliana and expecting another daughter in November.
