Yes....It looks as though the MUDCATS will field a team for the 2010 season! Players and info will follow....

Again the Mudcats season was in limbo.... but with great interest shown in the gym sessions in the offseason, we will go with several new additions to the team.

On the Hill to start the season are a number of players, a Mudcats first. In no order we now have Jeff "Wild Thing" English, Chad Costello, Sean Costello, Ron Clarkson, John "Goose" Yeomans, Harold Hopink, Vance "Bend my Back" Leschuk, Geoff "#1 for a reason" Mckay, Matin "The Painter" Blackwell, and maybe someday....Wayne "I Can Throw" Hales to complete the list.

Rookies full and part time are:
Sean Costello, Chad Costello, Steve Crowe"bar", Jeff English, Harold Hopink, Greg Klassen, Dean Koyanagi, Craig Tessier, and Darin Tessier.

Out of Retirement:
Dean "I am #19" Mayencourt, Keeley "Just Let Me Hit" Warren, and maybe someday....Wayne Hales.

After two ex. games (R-Backs & Firebirds)both loses!

A MUDCATS FIRST IN MY NOW 7TH SEASON....A WIN TO START THE SEASON.

GAME ONE at Redhawks.....

MUDCATS WIN!!!! The MUDCATS pulled a come from behind win to open the season. This is the first opening day win for the Mudcats in the past 10 years. Is a long streak of losing finally behind them? It will be a long 4 1/2 month season, but the Cats boast a handfull of promising pitching never seen on their roster in years past. 10 of the 24 man roster can take the hill if need be. Chad Costello has win #1 under his belt after 3 solid inning of relief work allowing only 1 run in a great team effort. Led by Rookie Steve Crowe"BAR" who went 3-4 with 3 RBI's and a great defensive play in the 7th. The TSN turning point would have to be Sean Costello picking up a 1 hop single to Right that saw REDHAWKS B-Mac try to score from second base on the hit. Sean looked, double pumped and still nailed B-Mac by at least 12 feet from home with the strike from the field.

*** #1 Geoff Mckay *** April 30th - Mundy Park -- PPD !!!

GAME TWO vs RedSox.....

It did take three weeks, but the Mudcats finally played their second game of the season. Early this Sunday morning two evenly matched teams took to Thompson park. Vance Leschuk took the hill for the Mudcats for the win in just his second start in the PMBL. Vance was solid pitching 5 innings (4R, 6H, 3 SO, 2BB) and also pitched in offensively going 2-4 with 2 RBI's to help the cause! John Yeomans did his usual, going 3-4 with 1 RBI and also made a great defensive play when he laid out with a Mark Teixeira like stab at 1st to end the game! Kudos to an entire solid Mudcats team, including Sunday's relief pitcher Sean Costello who shut it down pitching two innings allowing 2 runs (1 unearned) on 2 hits, 2 SO, 1BB.Red Sox kept it close but today the bounces were working for the home team!

Fast forward to the playoffs

Mudcats win series 2-1

In a must win game for the Mudcats, veteran pitcher Ron Clarkson brought his A game Saturday. Ron pitched a complete game 4 hit gem. He had the perfect game and the no hitter broken up by none other than Cobras Ace, Chris Davenport in the top of the 6th inning. The Cobras did make it interesting in the top of 7 plating 3 runs but came up just short when Chris Smith threw a perfect strike from shallow centerfield to catcher Craig Tessier who tagged out "O" just a few feet in front of home plate. Another very exciting well played game by both teams. Mudcats 5 - Cobras 3

Mudcats 9, Cobras 8 (9 innings) Sunday, Game 3 had the Cobras open a 3-0 lead after 1 in. of play. After a 30min. rain delay, both teams were up for a baseball game, and a GREAT baseball game it was. This one had offence, defense, stolen bases, a few hard hits, a 4th in. Grand Slam by P.O.G. Craig Pidcock (5 RBI's on the day). Chad Costello was great on the hill allowing 5 runs in 4 innings (2 earned) in his 1st outing since May 15th and Vance Leschuk went 5 strong after a poor start a week earlier. All pitchers in this series were great... for the Mudcats, Sean Costello (gm1) Ron Clarkson (gm2) Chad Costello + Vance Leschuk (gm3). "The Rubber Arm" Chris Davenport showed he can really pitch 3 games in a weekend...Chris threw all but 1 1/3 innings for the Cobras and was still throwing strikes in the 9th in. A well played series with only a 1 run being the difference after 23 innings of play (Mudcats 14, Cobras 13).

Semi-Finals

Red Sox 5, Mudcats 4 Two team ace's squared off on Friday night and neither disappointed. The two boys on the hill came out every inning with their teams on their shoulders with not a walk allowed. The Mudcats came out swinging in the first and scored a run early only to have the Red Sox reply with one of their own. Things settled down for a while until the Sox scored one in the 4th and held off the Cats until the 6th when they took advantage of some misplays and scored the tying run. The Red sox returned the favor by taking advantage of some errors to score 3 more in the bottom of the sixth. The Mudcats decided the game was not over and the bottom of their order started smacking the ball and scored two to put the Cats within one but a spectacular catch by right fielder Chris Donaldson ended any Cats comeback.

Mudcats 5, Red Sox 2 Another well played baseball game by both the Red Sox and Mudcats. Chad Costello led the way in this one and was outstanding on the hill. Chad pitched a complete game 4 hit 7 strikeout, and gave up 1 walk for the win. The Sox were not going away easy and took the lead from the Cats 2-1 in the 4th. The Mudcats got the bullpen warming after the 4th, and that was the game breaker. Chad piped, "I am good for at least 2 more coach". you could tell he meant business. Chad then pitched the next three innings allowing only 1 hit and struck out 4 of the last 9 batters to end the game. John Yeomans, Ron Clarkson and Vance Leschuk were all huge with the sticks today. Game 3 goes 5:00pm Sunday at Heritage.

Sox 7, Mudcats 2 In a error filled game, the Cats season came to a close for the 2010 season. Tonight was just one of those nights where the Mudcats could do nothing right. The Sox beat us bad with only a few hits and we could not cash in our runners.

The last dozen games has left Mudcat management looking forward to a promising look to the 2011 season.
