Spring 08 Playoffs Record 1-2

7-13-08 Game 1 - Mustangs vs. Lobos - (W 11-6)

The Mustangs got past the first round with a win over the Lobos with a final score of 11-5. Andy Hennis pitched 5 dominate innings getting the win and CJ Najera finished up the game. Joe Finateri led the offensive attack for the Mustangs going 2-3 with a double and 2 RBI's. The Mustangs took advantage of the Lobos' mistakes and would move on to play the Devils immediatley following their win.

7-13-08 Game 2 - Mustangs vs Devils - (L 15-16)

An exciting close game through all 9 innings, the Mustangs came up just short as a base hit in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs won the game for the Devils. This game had a lot of hits as both teams were spraying the ball all over the field. Mustangs had the lead for most of the first 7 innings until the Devils scored 6 in the bottom of the 7th only for the Mustangs to tie the game in the top of the 8th. With fatigue setting in and running short on arms on the mound the Mustangs were playing with all heart and almost pulled out the upset. The Mustangs will bounce back next week as they get another shot at the Devils in what is a best of 3 series.

7-20-08 Game 3 - Devils vs Mustangs - (L 17-7)

The Mustangs were eliminated from the playoffs on Sunday with a loss to the Devils
. Mental mistakes along with a few umpire disagreements led to two big innings for the Devils and although the Mustangs would recover they were just in too big of a hole and lost in 9 innings 17-7. This game wraps up a terrific season for the Mustangs in what was their first full season as a team. Next Season should be another exciting one!

Spring 08 Regular Season Record 8-6

Spring 08 was the Mustangs' first full season as a franchise. After starting the season 0-5, the Mustangs would go on to win their next 8 out of 9 games to finish the regular season with a record of 8-6.  The Mustangs got into the playoffs on the last day of the season and would be the #5 seed heading in.

(6-29-08) Lobos vs. Mustangs - (W 10-14)

The Mustangs had a stunning come from behind win in burning, scorching, sizzling, smoldering 110 degree heat! Trailing by as many as 7, the Mustangs never said die and rallied back scoring 7 runs in the 5th inning that was started by the bottom of the lineup and finished with a grand slam by Mike Finateri. The 6 through 9 hitters really came through for the team with some big time knocks! Adam Brown and Nick Finateri did a hell of a job at the plate, Adam went 2-2 with a double, 2 walks, 1 RBI, and 3 runs scored while Nick Finateri went 3-4 with huge clutch hits and 5 RBI's. CJ closed the door as the new Mustangs closer and didn't allow a run in the final 2 innings. As the coach, I was really proud of everyone out there today, you guys could of easily quit out there but didn't, I really just can't stress enough how great of a game it was for us. Next stop.........PLAYOFFS!!!!

(6-22-08) Mustangs vs. Yesco - (W 14-4)

After getting through a rough first inning defensively, the Mustangs rebounded and won fairly easy in 7 innings. Andy Hennis ptiched another phenominal game and CJ slammed the door shut with the high heat. Another game, another victory for the Mustangs who have rallied in the second half of the season and have won their last 6 out of 7 games after starting the season 0-5.

(6-15-08) High Rollers vs. Mustangs - (W 7-22)

The Mustangs bounced back from a disappointing loss in a big way against the High Rollers winning 22-7. The win was a total team effort as everyone on the team had at least one hit and the defense, although can still be improved, played a lot better than the previous game. Chris Finateri had a nice little game going 3-5 with a couple of RBI's and made his spring debut on the mound earning the win and striking out 4 in 2 innings pitched. Adam pitched a solid game to start and CJ Closed it out. Joe Finateri, CJ Najera, and Mike Finateri each hit a homerun. Everyone had fun and as a team we definitely weren't flat. The Mustangs have to keep the same mentality they had for this game for the rest of the season.

(6-8-08) Mustangs vs. Bulls - (L 2-11)

The Mustangs 4-game winning streak was snapped against the Bulls. It was a tie game, 2-2 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning when the Bulls broke the game wide open scoring 6 in the bottom of the 6th. The Mustangs struggled offensively all game long with only 4 hits in the game and scoring only 2 runs. The only bright spots for the Mustangs were Andy's solid pitching on the mound and Justin's 2-run homerun. The Mustangs will shake this loss off and look forward to starting a new winning streak and it all starts next Sunday against the High Rollers.

(6-1-08) Mustangs vs. High Rollers - (W 11-1)

After waiting around for the game to finally start, the Mutangs jumped on the High Rollers early and never looked back. Andy and Adam continued to pitch great by getting ahead of hitters and trusting their defense. Of course a Las Vegas Mustangs game wouldn't be complete without seeing their bats in action. The game started off with a perfectly placed triple by the leadoff batter and the other Stangs would be sure to drive in those base runners. The final score of the game was the Mustangs - 11 and the High Rollers - 1. The Mustangs have now won 4 games in a row, can they make it 5 next week? Only time will tell what's in store for the Mustangs as the season continues.

(5-18-08) Spartans vs. Mustangs - (W 7-8)

The Mustangs defeated the Spartans by the final score of 8-7. The victory was a total team effort as there were many different contributers to the victory. It started with the great pitching of the Mustangs in Andy Hennis and Adam Brown who only allowed 4 earned runs in 9 innings of work while striking out 10. The Mustangs also brought their hot sticks to the game as timely hitting provided the victory. Joe Finateri hit a 2-run homerun, Mike Finateri went 2-4 with a double and 3 runs scored, CJ Najera went 3-5 with a double and 2 RBI's, and the player of the game Justin Savitt went 4-5 with 2 doubles and provided the final blow to the Spartans with a walk off base hit in the bottom of the 9th giving the Mustangs the Win!

(5-4-08)Mustangs vs. Raptors - (W 20-8)

The Mustangs brought their bats to the game this week as they hit a combined 7 homeruns in the game. Joe Finateri went 3-4 with 3 homeruns and 6 RBI's, Mike Finateri went 4-4 with 2 homeruns and 3RBI's, Josh Flynn had a 3-run homerun, and CJ Najera hit a grand-slam! The whole line up swung the sticks great, racking up 19 hits in the game and scoring 20 runs. However, it wasn't only the hitters that came to play, both Andy Hennis and Adam Brown each pitched a solid 4 innings with Andy getting the win. The Final score was 20-8 as the Mustangs roll to their second straight win.

(4-27-08) Yesco vs. Mustangs - (W 7-8)

The Mustangs got their first win of the season in dramatic fashion when CJ Najera hit the game winning walk-off inside the park grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the 9th. Andy Hennis pitched a great game going 7 innings, striking out 8, and only giving up 2 earned runs while newcomer Adam Brown pitched 2 innings of no-hit ball in relief to give us a chance and the Mustangs rallied and got a much deserved victory.

(4-20-08) Mustangs vs. Lobos - (L 10-22)

The Lobos were red hot at the plate spraying the ball all over the field and the Mustangs' bats just simply couldn't keep up. There were a couple of bright spots for the Mustangs however; CJ Najera hit a grand slam and Joe Finateri went 3-4 with a double raising his batting average to .500 for the season. The Lobos won the game 22-10 in what was definitely a pitchers duel.

(4-13-08) Assassins vs. Mustangs - (L 13-3)

Errors got in the way again in the middle innings of the game as the Mustangs dug themselves in a deep hole and couldn't dig themselves out, losing 13-3 in 7 innings.

(4-6-08) Devils vs. Mustangs - (L 14-7)

Way to play hard on Sunday, it was a close game until the end. Looking forward to playing the Assassins on 4-13 where it seems that they actually have character, dignity, and class so it should be fun for the fans, players, and a great game overall.

(3-30-08) Bulls vs. Mustangs - (L 16-12)

Mustangs hit the ball well but just couldn't get it together in the field as errors cost them the Victory. The final score was Bulls-16, Mustangs-12.
