Notes:
Suns beat Whitefish Bay Varsity 2-0 Monday behind both the bat and the arm of Jake Perez. Perez did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Suns, reaching base two times. He also drove in one runner when he doubled in the fifth inning. Whitefish Bay Varsity wasn't able to score a run off of Perez during his 6 1/3 innings on the mound. Perez allowed four hits, five walks and struck out six. The lead stayed with the Suns after the fifth, when it scored one run on an RBI double by Perez. Matt Schubert plated the insurance run the Suns needed in the top of the 7th when Loveland scored on a passed ball. Schubert then came up big for the Suns when he relieved Perez of his outstanding performance. With the Blue Dukes threatening in the bottom of the seventh with runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out Schubert sealed the victory with back to back strike outs for the final two outs of the game. |
