The Lightning beat out New Prague in a battle 3-2. Eastview got up early on a double steal with 2 outs when Melzarek stole 2nd and Dickson came home on the throw. New Prague answered right away with a quick 2 out double-steal of their own. Tied at 1 in the bottom of the 4th, Eastview had two men on base with 2 outs when Jonas (2 rbi) ripped a triple down the left field line, just out of the fielder's reach. It would have been a homerun if the ball had not been deemed out of play by the umpire. Eastview held on for the 3-2 win and moved into a 2nd place tie with New Prague in league play. They still hold the league's best run differential and have now won 4 straight league games. Melzarek (2 H, 2 ER, 9 K) kept their potent offense off balanced the entire night with a few curveballs mixed in but it was his fastball that they could not catch up to. He earned his team-high 4th win on the season and even had a hit of his own on offense. The team was much more focused today and that was a key part of the win as their defense committed only 1 error on the night. Eastview is off until this weekend when they pretty much are hosts of the Apple Valley Tournament.
