The Lightning got back to the win column by defeating the Raiders 12-0. Eastview struck with 3 quick unearned runs in the 1st and never looked back. They bashed out 10 hits and were aided by Northfield's defense committing 5 errors and pitchers giving 5 free bags. Leading the offense was Allen (2b, 3 rbi), Anderson (2 h, 4 rbi), Edsten (2 rbi, squeeze), Jonas (3 h, 2 sb) & Woods (2 r, squeeze). Eastview executed well all day by successfully laying down 6 bunts (Jonas had 2 hits and Woods had a hit). The 3 unearned runs were all Woods (0 r, 3 k) needed on the hill. He looked great in his 4 innings of work. Northfield led off the top of the 4th with 3 consecutive hits but Woods found his way out of the jam unharmed. Eastview travels to Rochester for their weekend tournament. Last year, the Lightning found success by moving into Championship Play but ended up finishing 4th. Their first opponent is Region 3 leaders South St Paul, who just recently defeated Hastings 6-1. On the bump will be Sean Devine (2-2, 3.28).
