Notes:
The Bombers fall to 4-1 in National Red Division play, and 5-3 overall after a 26-17 loss on the road to the Ellisville Knights. The Bombers started slowly, falling behind 5-0 in the first, but battled back to tie the score in the second inning and again in the third inning before the Knights pulled away with 4 consecutive 5 run innings from the 3rd through the 6th. GOLD GLOVE AWARD WINNERS: Brian Jones - cut off 5 line drives to center field in the 4th inning and made perfect throws to Colin Schwab at 2nd base. Also had an assist at Pitcher in the 3rd inning. Colin Schwab - fielded 5 throws at 2nd base from Brian Jones in center field in the 4th inning. Was in good position to make the tag on the advancing runners, but the Knight baserunners were too fast. Honorable Mention to Michael Hojnacki for 5 putouts and an assist; to Jacob Miller for 3 assists and a putout; and to Bennett Hacala and Ryan Bode for 2 putouts each. SILVER SLUGGER AWARD WINNERS: Ryan Bode - 4 for 5 with 3 doubles and 4 RBIs, including a bases clearing double in the 7th. Michael Hojnacki - 4 for 5 with 2 doubles, a triple, 3 RBIs and 1 run scored. Honorable Mention to Bennett Hacala for 4 RBIs on 3 singles; to Jacob Miller for 2 doubles, a single, 3 RBIs, and 3 runs scored; and to Artie DeGuire for 3 hits including a double, 3 runs and 2 RBIs. SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD: Artie DeGuire - for always displaying a positive, upbeat attitude; for always giving 100%; and for playing hard even when he wasn't feeling well during the game. |
