Eastview (11-18-1) lost a tough game vs Mankato 6-1. They were only outhit 9-6 but made too many baserunning errors which cost them a few times. On 2 different occasions did Eastview get 4 batters to the plate and have all 4 reach but then ended the inning there. The Lightning got a late 2-out RBI from Brechlin (SAC, 1B) in the 7th but it was too little and too late. The Lightning got another strong start from Brodeur (4 ER, 3 K) who almost finished 6 innings against a big Mankato squad. Eastview comes back in the morning with a game against Providence Academy. They have already placed in a MBT Tournament and it is unlikely that they have participated in many other ones (if any). Eastview will give the ball to Lucas Anderson (2-2, 4.83) in hopes of finishing pool play 1-1 and still having a shot at the top seed and a bye into the quarterfinals on Sunday. Game time is set for 8:30 am on WC West. However, the forecast shows a lot of morning showers so we'll see if it gets started on time.
