Eastview (14-22-1) won their third game of pool play in the MBT State tournament vs WYAL 11-4. The key turnaround was the defense of the Lightning. The previous 2 games of pool play (11 innings), the defense committed 13 errors. In this game (7 innings), they only committed 2 errors and did not give up an earned run. 10 guys reached base on offense for the Lightning, which had a 9-run inning in the 3rd to break the game open 10-0. After Woodbury got three runs, the Lightning quickly added another tally and the score stayed 10-3 until the final frame. Tyler Brodeur (3 H, 3 K, 3 ER) got his 3rd win of the season, tying him for the team lead. He threw 6 strong innings to get the W. The biggest bat on offense came from Stofferahn (BB, RS) who had three hits including a double and he drove in a season-high 4. Eastview takes Sunday off because they did not advance out of pool play but they come back Monday night against Minneapolis Blue, who finished 7-8-1 in their region. Minneapolis Blue has a few common opponents that Eastview has played: Chaska Purple (0-1-1), Bloomington Bombers (2-0) & Minneapolis Orange (0-2).Lucas Anderson (3-3, 4.67) will take the ball in hopes of keeping the Minneapolis offense shut down. In July (3 games), they only have scored 11 runs. The winner of this opening round playoff game will advance to face top-seeded EP Red Wednesday night at 530pm.
