Eastview continued pool play Saturday morning with a 8-0 shutout loss against Mound Westonka. The Whitehawks have been rolling and the Lightning couldn't get anything across in the first few frames, leaving a lot of guys on base early. Mound also capitalized on some of the Lightning's errors in the field. Eastview came back in the afternoon game against Eagan Blue (2-0 coming into the game) to move to 2-0 against them on the season. With the win, the Lightning received help with the Whitehawks losing to move onto quarterfinal action at the Gopher State Tournament of Champions. The Lightning defeated Eagan behind some great pitching (0 ER, 5 H). For pool play, the pitching staff only had 1 or 2 bad innings. Eastview has now won 3 of their last 4 and have some momentum going into tomorrow's game against top-ranked Shoreview Red. Shoreview will be home because they are the better seed but the Lightning hope to defeat them again. Eastview won 7-6 in the Woodbury Tournament back in May. Joe Stofferahn (2-6, 4.58) will take the ball to start tomorrow. It is likely that Eastview will pitch by committee again with the great success with it so far this weekend. Only once has a pitcher gone more than 3 innings thus far. Game time is slated for 9am sharp at WBL Township!
