Game Notes: Bama 10, UGA 7
Good game tonight against UGA.
In the top of the first, Branan led off the game with a solid single. Alex followed with another solid hit to score Branan. Dawson had a hit to score Alex and Jonah followed with a solid single. Griffin hit the ball right to the first baseman, but both Dawson and Jonah scored. Great productive out for 2 RBI's. Unfortunately we struck out twice to end the inning. In the bottom half, we had a 1-2-3 inning. Two balls were hit to Jonah for easy outs and a strikeout wrapped up the inning.
In the top of the 2nd, we gave UGA life by going 1-2-3. We hit 2 balls right to the pitcher who threw to first for easy outs. Then a strikeout ended our inning. We held them scoreless again in the bottom half. A strikeout led off the inning followed by a hit to right. Then a ball was hit to Jonah at SS who flipped to Mitch that was covering the bag for an easy force out at second. Great job Mitch! After another hit put runners at the corners an easy grounder was hit to Branan at first who gobbled it up and stepped on first for the last out of the inning. After 2, Bama 4, UGA 0
In the top of the 3rd, Will grounded to the pitcher for an easy out. Then we had a striekout. In stepped Branan who laced a ball up the middle for a solid single. The outfielder tried to throw him out at first and threw it into right field. McGee circled the bases for a big run. We ended our half with a strikeout. In the bottom half, UGA started hitting the ball. After a lead off strikeout, they strung together 4 hits. A ball was hit to Jonah for an easy force at 2nd, but we couldn't get the 3rd out of the inning and UGA scored 5. After 3, BAMA 5, UGA 5
In the top of the 4th, our bats came alive. Dawson led off the inning with a solid hit. Jonah then ripped one down the left field line for a double that scored Dawson. Jalen then followed with a double to score Jonah! After a strikeout, David stepped to the plate and had a HUGE double to score Jalen. Brandon had a solid single to score David. After another strikeout, Mitch stepped up and with 2 outs and had a solid drive to the outfield to score Brandan all the way from first! We put a big 5 spot on the board! In the bottom half, we unraveled a little, but made enough plays to keep them at bay. A routine ball was hit to 2b but we couldn't get the out at first. After a strikeout, another ball hit to second, but we dropped at first again. Then with 2 outs and 1 run in, a ball was hit to Jonah, but again we dropped the ball at first. After a solid hit scored another runner, the outfield got the ball in to second where Jonah made a tag on the runner for the last out of the inning and game! Wheew...we barely hung on today!
The following players were perfect at the plate, Branan, Dawson, and Jonah. Jonah and Griffin had 2 big RBI's each. Alex, Jalen, David, Brandon, and Mitch all were 1 for 2 with timely hitting mainly in the 4th inning to score 5 in the inning.
All in all, we hit the ball well today, but hit too many to the pitcher. That should be an automatic out and was today. Defensively we unraveled some and didn't hold the ball at first. We didn't hold the ball when coaches were saying not to throw the ball. We ran to bases when it wasn't a force out. Maybe we don't like the early game...but we still made enough plays to get the job done. Good job. Let's get ready for a tough FSU team on Sunday.
