Eastview fell behind early 4-0 but slowly battled back and had the tying run 90 feet away and leading run on second base with only one out in the 7th. They left them stranded, however, and lost a tough game 4-3. Lucas Anderson (9 K, 3 ER) went the distance with yet another quality start and gave up only 6 hits. He was only given two runs of offense in the first six innings so he was handed a tough loss. The offense had it's chances as they stranded ten guys on base and had fourteen baserunners on base. They were led by Granat (SB, RS), Kelley (SB, 2 RBI), Spika (4 BB), & Brodeur (RBI 1B) as all reached base multiple times. Eastview committed only 1 error on defense as there was a big improvement on that and that the staff only walked 3 guys (none after 2nd inning). The Lightning hope the solid defense and pitching continue tomorrow when they send Stofferahn (1-1, 3.15) to the mound to face Lakeville North. Last time these teams met Lakeville North won the opener 8-4 on Eastview's turf. If the Lightning play defense, pitch well, and get a few more timely hits they should be in good shape against the Panthers. It should be a key game as both teams have won half of their league games this season.
