Eastview (12-7) found its winning ways after losing its last two games by defeating Apple Valley 10-0 on the 5-inning mercy rule. With the win, Eastview bounces back to .500 in league play at 4-4, which is good for 3rd place behind only Minneapolis (8-0) and Prior Lake (7-1). Eastview was led by their pitching performance by Frojd (2 H, K) who went 4 innings and did not give up a single run. Ferber came in to pitch a perfect inning in only his second trip to the mound since returning from injury. On offense, the Lightning got 3 in the first following a leadoff infield single by Furnstahl (2 SB), who scored on a wild pitch. Following a few walks and a double steal, Frojd helped out his own cause with a 2-out 2-run double that he smashed to left field. In the 7-run third inning, Eastview capitalized on 4 Eagles errors to score 6 unearned runs and put the game out of reach. No one had multiple hits for Eastview but they scattered 6 hits and walked 6 times. The defense played flawless in the field with 0 errors and even turned a double play. The Lightning come back with three games Saturday in Eagan's tournament with the first game at 8am vs Hillcrest. Joe Furnstahl (3-2, 4.01) will be making his 5th start on the season, tying him for the team lead. In his last 3 starts he has thrown all but 1 of the team's innings. In his last 19 innings, he has given up only 7 earned runs. The Lightning are hoping for some more of that success as they look to win the all important first game!
