Game
Notes:
Having been upset two years in a row by West Allis Central, the Popes gained a measure of revenge by beating the Bulldogs 10-2 in the opening game of the WIAA Regionals. Starter Kevin Robinson scattered 7 hits and struck out 5, while walking just 2 in the first 6 to earn the victory, and Alex Kosinski pitched a perfect 7th to seal it. The Popes were held hitless until the 4th when one out singles by Tom Hoffman and Dave Van Rixel combined with Ryan Pogodzinkski being hit by a pitch, set the stage for an RBI single off the bat of Kevin Doerr. A.J. Seagraves then executed a perfect suicide squeeze bunt to put the Popes ahead to stay. Van Rixel led the offense with a 2-4 day including a double while driving in 2. Hoffman was 2-3, Doerr and Andy Brzakala each knocked in a pair, and Joe Schreck contributed a double to the 7 hit attack.
