APPLE VALLEY -- Eastview (6-3) throttled division-leading Lakeville North 10-4 on yet another great night for baseball after a long Spring of rain. The Panthers jumped out to an early lead with a leadoff walk, a double, a wild pitch and an RBI groundout to plate two. The Lightning answered right away with Leighton (2 RS, 2 H) and Augustin (3 H, RBI, RS) getting base hits. Selchow (2 SB, BB, RS) brought in Leighton with an RBI groundout. After stranding two Panthers in scoring position in the 2nd, the Lightning took the lead with some clutch two out hitting and aggressive baserunning. With one out Johansen (2 RS, 2 BB) singled and stole second. After a Stockwell single and Ibeneme (courtesy runner) stolen base, they had runners in scoring position and two out. Leighton drove in Johansen with an infield single and Augustin brought in Stockwell with a line drive to left. In the 3rd, the Lightning brought the lead to 7-2. Selchow led off the inning with a groundball single between 3rd and short and stole second base. Bangh (2 H) brought in Selchow and he stole second base. After a Johansen walk, Stockwell (2 H) brought in Bangh. Terlizzi hit into a fielders choice and Johansen scored from second as the first basemen dropped the ball. The score remained the same until Eastview put up another big inning in the 6th to put the game out of reach. McLean led off with a walk, Augustin followed with another single and Wilson advanced them both over with a beautiful SAC bunt. Following a lineout, Dickson hit a BOMB to left field, which was estimated at 350 feet (no physics were used in the estimation). The Panthers still couldn't get the 3rd out until Bangh singled and Johansen walked. Leighton came in for the 7th for his first appearance on the season to close out the win. After McDevitt went the first two, Dickson pitched the next four innings, only giving up two hits and walking none. He had 9 strikeouts on the night and kept Lakeville off balance and flailing at pitches. With the win, the Lightning now hold the tiebraker over Lakeville North and are only one win behind them in the standings for first place! After the long weekend off for Memorial Weekend, the Lightning come back with rivals Apple Valley (3-3) who are starting to catch fire themselves. The Eagles beat Lakeville last night and one has to bet they will be fired up to get even with Eastview on the season after losing 10-7 a few weeks ago. The game is set for Tuesday at 8pm at Quarry Point. Alex Bangh (2-0, 0.00) is scheduled to make his second start of the season. His first start he went 4 shutout innings against Eden Prairie.

Dickson (W, 1-0)
