NEW PRAGUE -- Eastview (13-5) kept the pressure on Mankato and Lakeville North by defeating New Prague 10-0 in six innings. With the upcoming Burnsville Tournament, McDevitt, Selchow, Bangh & Dickson combined on the shutout, allowing only 4 hits. New Prague left 10 runners on base as they went 1 for 7 with 2 outs. The Lightning started the game by scoring 3 in the 1st inning, making it 5 of their last 7 games where they scored in the 1st. Selchow led off the game by reading on an error and stealing 2nd. Leighton reached on an infield single. With 2-outs, Johansen got an RBI single and Bangh followed with a 2-run triple, as the Lightning continued their clutch 2-out hitting recently. In the 3rd, Dickson had a 1-out triple and he scored on a Johansen SAC fly. In the 4th, McLean led off with a walk and scored on an Ibeneme triple. Selchow doubled, scoring Ibeneme. Leighton singled to put runners on the corners and McDevitt drove in Selchow with a single. After a groundout, Johansen singled in his 3rd RBI on the night. In the 6th, Terlizzi led off with a single, moved to 3rd on a Dickson double and scored on a 2-out Bangh infield single. The Lightning shut down the Trojans in the bottom of the inning to complete the 10-run mercy rule, their first time doing so in the season. With the win, Eastview sits a half game back of Mankato, who lost to Shakopee the previous night, for 2nd place. Eastview comes back with two games Saturday, the first being at 10am vs Apple Valley. The Eagles will be looking for their first win against the Lightning on the season, as they got swept in league play 10-7 and 15-7. On the mound for Eastview will be Keegan Dickson (2-0, 1.40), making his second start of the season. Game time is set for 10am at Burnsville High School's varsity field.
