Game
Notes:
The Waukesha Firebirds and the Trans Environmental Sluggers had the game of the weekend. This game was won by the Waukesha Firebirds (Black) 6-5 in a 2 run 7th inning comeback to snatch victory from defeat over the Sluggers. This game was like a roller coaster of big plays and big hits by both teams. The Firebirds jumped out to a 2-0 lead a Double by Ty Neushaefer and a walk by Mitch Ducett and then a big single by Storm Muehl. This held up for 5 innings thanks to another GREAT performance by Mitch Ducett pitching. But the Sluggers would not quit. They answered in the 6th inning with a 3 run inning taking the lead. But right back came the Firebirds in the bottom of the 6th with 2 runs to take back the lead 4-3.This was highlighted with Storm Muehl and Alex Lawrence and Conor Sherman each working walks to start the inninig and then a sac fly by Brandon Berghoefer and a pass ball allowed the Firebirds to go into the 7th inning with a 1 run lead. But the Sluggers were not done. They fought back with a Homerun to tie the game and then added one more run to take the lead back into the bottom of the 7th inning 5-4. But the Firebirds on this day were not going to be denied. They answered back with a 2 run 7th inning to steal victory in this game 6-5.Darin Howell started the big comeback with a single. Then Darin moved up to second on a FC by Brian Hepworth . Ty Neuschaefer and Mitch Ducett followed with each drawing walks to load the bases. This brought up Storm Muehl to try to drive in the runs. But instead the Sluggers pitcher followed with 2 straight wild pitches and both Darin Howell and Ty neuschaefer scored to seal the win for the Firebirds. As a Coach and a player and a fan this had to be one of the most exciting and fun games to be involved in. This is a game that it is to bad someone has to lose. But on this day it was GREAT to be a Firebird and come out on top to make them 2-1 in pool play with one more game to go.
