Game
Notes:
The Popes jumped on Mukwonago for 4 1st inning runs and led 8-0 after 4, before hanging on to win 8-5. Alex Kosinski notched his second victory of the season as he scattered 7 hits and allowed 4 runs before leaving in the 5th. Kevin Robinson continued his torrid streak after moving to the top spot in the lineup, with a 4 for 4 day including 2 doubles and two runs scored with an RBI. Andy Brzakala blasted 3 long doubles to drive in 2, and Joe Schreck and Nick Majeske chipped in two hits apiece. A.J. Seagraves cam on in the 5th to record his second save of the week.
AND (editorial comment:) once again the Popes were robbed of a legitimate HR because an umpire does not know the rules of the game in which he is calling. Jim Foy blasted a drive to deep left over the 284 foot sign, when the ball passed over the fence it was clearly fair, but as Newton taught us, gravity and physics cause an object not on a straight path to change it's path to earth, and the ball landed in foul territory well after passing the fence fair. When questioned by coach Kevin Kehoss about the bad call, the home plate umpire stated "the ball landed in foul territory", coach Kehoss responded with it's only 284' and when it went out it was fair" to which this umpire, mind you a "qualified" WIAA umpire, retorted with "what difference does that make" My question is why would an umpire not know the rules of a game that he is supposed to arbiter of? In my humble opinion, this guy should never umpire again. UNBELIEVABLE!!
