Game Notes: The fourth game of pool play for the Waukesha Firebirds brought another dramatic finish. But this time the Firebirds came up short in a 8-7 loss to the Oregon J.R. Eagles from O.H. The Firebirds got a strong pitching performance by Conor Sherman and some great defensive plays by Storm Muehl who took a hard ground ball to the face and still had the toughness to pick the ball up and throw the runner out at first stop a big rally by the Eagles. Also Tyler Coffey made a outstanding catch in center field to stop a scoring threat . But the big story to this game was neither team would give up in this game. When one team looked to have the game won , the other team answered some how to come right back. The Firebirds were trailing 5-2 going to the bottom of the 5th inning when Sean Saral got hit by a pitch and Storm Muehl reached on a error and then Darin Howell singled to score Sean and Storm. Then Brandon Berghoefer reached also on a error giving the Firebirds runners on 1st and 3rd with one out trailing by 1 run. This is when Mitch Ducett laid down a Great Suicide Squeeze Bunt down scoring Darin Howell from 3rd and on a bad throw by the Eagles Brandon Berghoefer scored also all the way from 1st base to give the Firebirds a 6-5 lead going to the top of the 6th and final inning we thought. This is when the Eagles answered back after getting the first out the Eagles hit back to back homeruns to regain the lead 7-6 going to the bottom of the 6th. But the Firebirds were not done. Tyler Coffey drew a one out walk and stole second base and then scored on a single by Storm Muehl. This tied the game at 7-7 and we went extra innings again. But here is where the Eagles managed to score a run in the top of the 7th and the Firebirds left 2 runners on in the bottom of the seventh and came up just short 8-7 in a loss to the Eagles. Alex Lawrence was 2for 2 in the game and Sean Staral and Darin Howell and Mitch Ducett each had 2 hits for the Firebirds.
